Applicants must possess secondary education credentials, such as a high school diploma, SAT/ACT scores, and English language proficiency examination results. The university has established specific minimum scores that applicants must meet to be admitted. The user has achieved a score of 6.0 in the IELTS exam, 80 in the TOEFL Internet-based Test, 590 in the SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing section, and 23 in the ACT Combined English/Writing section.

2. The Belt and Road Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: The scholarship covers the entire tuition cost and includes an additional bursary of HK$50,000 per year.

Eligibility Criteria: First-year undergraduate students from countries located in the Belt and Road areas as well as other foreign countries.

The Belt and Road Scholarship, sponsored by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government Scholarship Fund, seeks to encourage students from all countries along the Belt and Road to pursue higher education at any university in Hong Kong. The fellowship includes the payment of tuition costs for the recipients and is currently available to postgraduate researchers as well.

Applying for this scholarship at the Chinese University of Hong Kong is not mandatory for students. Candidates who meet the requirements will be selected by CUHK and put forth to the Education Bureau for consideration before the final list of recipients is announced.

3. The CUHK Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for Excellence

The scholarship amount is HK$50,000 and it is non-renewable.

Eligibility Criteria: This opportunity is only available to students who are currently in their first year of undergraduate studies and are registered at CUHK.

Each year, this scholarship is granted to a total of 8 undergraduate students who are selected based on their outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements. The scholarship primarily requires the submission of college entry results, language proficiency exam results, and evidence of leadership/community service experience. The institution announces the scholarship specifics in October and then proceeds to nominate eligible applicants.

Scholarships for postgraduate studies are available at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

1. Scholarships for students pursuing advanced degrees

The scholarship amount is HK$216,300.

Eligibility Criteria: This opportunity is only available to postgraduate students who are engaged in full-time research at CU.Hong Kong

Available Degrees: Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

The objective of CUHK is to fulfill the financial requirements of postgraduate students who will be engaging in full-time research at the university. They will be granted monthly stipends and carry out various research and teaching responsibilities for CUHK’s Centre for Chinese Studies.

Application for this scholarship at the Chinese University of Hong Kong is not mandatory for postgraduate students. They will be automatically included and extended an invitation, along with the admission offer, by the university.

2. The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme

The scholarship provides a monthly salary of HK$26,900 and a conference travel allowance of HK$13,500 every year. It can be renewed for a total of 3 years.

Qualification Requirements: Exceptional academic and extracurricular qualifications for PhD candidates

Academic Program: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme was established by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council to attract students to enroll in a PhD program at any accredited university in Hong Kong.

To be considered for this scholarship offered by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, students are required to submit an initial application to the Research Grants Council.

Following the initial application, applicants will be provided with a unique reference number. Subsequently, this numerical value will be utilized to formally submit the comprehensive application to CUHK. Complete applications must be submitted to the Online Application System for Postgraduate Program no later than December 1.

Applicants must provide scanned copies of the following documents: university graduation certificate, transcript of records, language proficiency test results, 2 reference letters, and a valid ID. The institution may require additional supporting documents if they are judged appropriate.
