Requirements for eligibility:

  • The applicant must be a citizen of a country other than China.
  • In a state of optimal health and fulfilling the criteria outlined in the “Health Screening and Admission Criteria for Foreign Students Studying in China”. The grant is exclusively available to incoming students.
  • The applicant must possess a strong moral character and be committed to adhering to Chinese laws, regulations, university norms, and social conventions.
  • To apply for a bachelor’s degree, an individual must possess a high school diploma or certification (or an equivalent qualification) and be between the ages of 18 and 25.
  • To be eligible for a master’s degree program, a candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.

Procedure for Applying:

Necessary documents:

  • CSC Application Form (available on the CSC website)
  • A certified duplicate of the Diploma or Certification (A graduate may submit a Provisional certificate or study certificate)
  • A duplicate of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form
  • A photocopy of a current and valid passport
  • A certified duplicate of the transcripts
  • Master’s degree applicants are required to submit a minimum of two reference letters, which should be suggested by a professor or associate professor.
  • A personal statement, written in either Chinese or English, must be submitted. The statement should be no fewer than 800 words and should include a study/research plan, family background information, as well as any honors and merits.
  • Records of Non-Criminal Activity
  • An authenticated duplicate of a valid HSK Certificate is required for courses taught in Chinese. For majors in Sciences, an enrollee must pass HSK4, whereas for majors in Arts, HSK5 is required. The minimum score should be 180. Exceptional candidates who do not meet the required level of Chinese proficiency (HSK) before applying can request approval from the CSC to enroll in a one-year Chinese language training program. During this period, they will continue to receive a full scholarship. A valid certification of English Language competence is required for courses taught in English.
