International students who demonstrate exceptional merit and financial need are eligible to apply for the International Cultural Service Program (ICSP), which requires them to perform cultural service by sharing information about their home country with UO faculty, staff, students, and community organizations.

Concerning the scholarship initiative

The International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) is open to both new and returning international students. Recipients of ICSP scholarships receive one-time partial tuition waivers, and if they meet the program’s requirements, their scholarship can be renewed annually until they graduate from the University of Oregon. The program requires 66–80 hours of cultural service per year from ICSP students. Examples of cultural service include speaking or demonstrating your country’s heritage and culture to community groups or schools.

Scholarship worth:

Partial waiver of tuition costs. As long as the student complies with the program’s conditions, the ICSP scholarship is renewable annually until the student completes a degree at the University of Oregon.

Qualifications:

  • The University of Oregon must grant admission to applicants, or they must be fully admitted. Application deadlines for Fall 2024 at the University of Oregon are January 15, 2024.
  • Candidates cannot be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or qualified to receive federal financial aid from the U.S. government.
  • Candidates must fulfill the minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 3.0 and demonstrate financial necessity.
  • As part of the curriculum, ICSP students commit to performing 66–80 hours of cultural service annually.

Application guidelines:

Before applying for a scholarship, you must apply for admission to the University of Oregon. Within a week of submitting your admissions application, keep an eye out for an invitation via email to access the UO Scholarship Dashboard.

You must turn in your reference letters along with your general application, ISSS endowment scholarship application, and ICSP scholarship application through the UO scholarship dashboard by February 16, 2024, at 4 p.m. (PST).
