ROLE: Driver
JOB SUMMARY
The goal of the Ghana Fisheries Recovery Activity (GFRA) is to keep the small pelagic fishing sector from collapsing in Ghana and to improve people’s other sources of income, resilience, and food security. This activity aims to improve alternative ways to make a living and ways to make fishing communities more resilient, especially for women and young people.
It also aims to make it easier for the private sector to get involved and connect with markets in the fishing industry, to strengthen government capacity in policymaking, regulation, and enforcement, to improve science and research, including gathering data that can be used to make policy and management decisions, and to give key stakeholders more power to make change.
MAIN OBLIGATIONS AND TASK
- Repair and maintain small pieces of office equipment for which he or she has been trained and given a certificate.
- Take paperwork to different places.
- Staff and experts will need drivers in Accra and on field trips.
- Drive the car you were given in a safe and polite way.
- Keep the inside and outside of the vehicle(s) you’ve been given clean.
- Keep exact, up-to-date records of the Log sheet, vehicle maintenance, fuel card purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports, and any other records that the supervisor asks for.
- Plan with the supervisor when major or regular car maintenance will be done.
- Do any other tasks that the direct supervisor thinks are reasonable.
Vehicles can’t be used for personal use. Only serious business should be done in a car. The Administration and Logistics Assistant will set, handle, and keep an eye on the schedule for driving services in Ghana. On trips to GFRA field sites, the staff member or hired consultant in charge of the field travel will tell, handle, and keep an eye on the Driver. The Driver will help this staff member or expert with logistics to make sure the trip goes well.
This includes making plans for workshops and training, such as lodging, meeting rooms, slide shows, printing, photocopying, internet, etc., and making sure refreshments and lunch are served on time. The Driver must also do any other tasks that the staff/consultant in charge of the field trip thinks are reasonable. The driver should always be available and close to the staff member or consultant in charge of field travel. He or she should also make sure that the vehicle is only used for official business as directed by this staff member or consultant.
Skills or Experience Needed
- Good driving skills and following safety rules while on the road.
- Excellent at talking to people and keeping things in order.
- Strong people skills and the ability to solve problems.
- Very serious and dependable.
- Being able to work well with other people on a team.
- Requirements for Education, Experience, and Licensing:
- Diploma from high school, BECE, or similar
- 2 years of work experience Holder of a license B Simple English skills.
