Sweden Ghana Medical Centre Invites Job Applications
A highly respected medical care center in Accra, Ghana, with an oncology history, is looking for highly qualified and devoted professionals in the following areas:
ROLE: PERMANENT THEATRE/PERIOPERATIVE NURSE
Patients who arrive for pre-operative and surgical procedures will be given superior care by theatre nurse personnel. They are responsible, in an oversight position, for the successful delivery of competent, compassionate, and efficient care for patients undergoing anesthesia, surgery, and/or treatments, as well as Phase 1 recovery, in accordance with Ghana’s regulatory nursing requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work independently and collaboratively with our doctors/surgeons to improve patient care and management prior to and after surgical procedures:
- Under the supervision of the surgical team, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate required patient care.
- Encourage a caring work environment by providing safe equipment and appropriate supplies in a well-organized physical setting.
- Prepare and help patients with procedures and treatments.
- Set up operating rooms, disinfect tools, equipment, and supplies, and keep supplies in stock.
- Maintain productive relationships with the clinic’s multidisciplinary staff.
- Effectively communicate with patients/relatives, ensuring that all clinical needs are satisfied in a courteous, helpful, and empathetic manner.
- Always ensure the safety of the patient. Avoid errors by adhering to protocols and procedures, while keeping in mind that complex regimens of potentially fatal medications are used in a variety of treatment situations. Bring to the attention of management any areas that can be addressed.
- Identifies proper communication and coordination to ensure seamless operating room activities.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- A master’s degree or diploma in critical and peri-operative nursing, as well as a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- The capacity to stay current on new medical advances.
- The ability to work erratic hours and remain on call in case of an emergency.
- Demonstrated decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Oncology experience;
- Excellent teamwork, leadership, and organizational abilities.
Conditions:
- Salary: Above-market average
- Permanent and locum contracts are available.
- Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (Night shifts, weekends, and extended working hours may be necessary)
Accra is the location.
