Study In USA: University of Utah Application Fee Waivers

The Kahlert School of Computing will provide several application-fee waivers for International PhD students based on their merit. It is important to note that we do not give application fee waivers for master applicants.

The application deadline for a fee waiver is November 1, 2024, at 5 PM Mountain time. You must complete the paperwork for foreign waivers. The decisions regarding the requests for application fee waivers are anticipated to be finalized in early December.

Prior to the decision on application-fee waivers, you may begin completing the online application and preparing your reference letters. However, please refrain from paying the online application fee until you receive a response regarding the fee-waiver request. Once the application fee has been paid, it will not be possible to obtain a refund, rendering a granted fee-waiver request ineffective.

The University of Utah, commonly referred to as the U of U or simply The U, is a prominent institution located in Salt Lake City, renowned for its academic excellence, strong athletic programs, and cutting-edge research. Undergraduates who are interested in university housing have the option to select from a variety of accommodations, including standard residence halls, two- and four-bedroom apartments, and living communities that cater to specific interests. The Utes, the sports teams of Utah, participate in the PAC-12 Conference of the NCAA Division I and have a competitive relationship with the teams from Brigham Young University. The University of Utah operates several research centers and institutes, such as the Brain Institute, the American West Center, and the Center for High-Performance Computing.

The University of Utah’s esteemed S.J. Quinney College of Law, College of Engineering, College of Education, and David Eccles School of Business provide graduate degree programs. The University of Utah School of Medicine, renowned for its exceptional primary care department, is the sole medical school in the state.

Also, the University of Utah has produced some distinguished graduates, such as Alan Ashton, who is known for co-founding WordPerfect; Nolan Bushnell, the inventor of Chuck E. Cheese’s and the video game business Atari Inc.; and John Warnock, who co-founded Adobe Systems Inc.

Why choose University of Utah?

Size and Variety

The University of Utah is the second-largest university in Utah, with only a slight difference in size. From our perspective, it is quite advantageous as the University of Utah boasts an impressive scale and a wide range of demographics. The university offers a wide range of academic programs, including more than 138 majors. Additionally, there are over 50 research centers and an extensive selection of over 600 student clubs and organizations. If you are a student seeking a club that covers a wide range of interests, including intellectual, recreational, musical, or athletic pursuits, you are likely to discover such opportunities at the University of Utah.

Utah is often criticized for its lack of diversity. That is not true. The university exhibits higher levels of ethnic, gender, and geographic diversity compared to the majority of other universities in the country. The Utes are ranked as the most diversified large university in Utah, with a balanced gender ratio. Furthermore, Salt Lake City has consistently received high rankings as one of the most LGBTQ-friendly towns in the entire nation. Therefore, if you are seeking diversity and have doubts about finding it in Utah, reconsider your assumptions.

The Greek community at the University of Utah is exceptional.

There are a total of eleven fraternities and eight sororities at the Utes. Utah offers the most extensive selection of fraternity and sorority chapters, making it the top choice for Greek life in the state. However, there may be other locations in the country that provide even better options.

While joining a fraternity or sorority may have a negative reputation among certain individuals, Greek life offers a remarkable opportunity to form friendships, partake in events and parties, contribute to important community service, and engage in leadership projects. If you are considering attending college in Utah and have an interest in joining a fraternity or sorority, you need not search any farther, as Greek life in Utah is thriving.

The gym at the University of Utah is exceptional.

Utah has constructed a cutting-edge gymnasium dubbed the University of Utah Student Life Center as a result of its recent agreement with the Pac-12 and the subsequent increase in funds. Contrary to the practice of many institutions, where athletic facilities are often restricted to sports teams, Utah’s gym is accessible to all students and does not require any payment. The abundance of amenities at this gym is so extensive that I was unable to commit them to memory, hence I will now recite them to you.

The amenities offered consist of a 50-meter indoor pool, outdoor leisure pools, a spacious indoor hot tub and spa, a 320-yard indoor running track, a four-story climbing wall, a 15,000 square-foot fitness center, an outdoor mezzanine, an outdoor fire pit, five sport courts, racquetball courts for group fitness studios, and a combative room.
