Among all SUNY institutions, the University at Buffalo provides the most valuable merit scholarships. Each year, we give our students more than $370 million in financial help and scholarships.

Scholarships established by friends and alumni of the institution, merit-based scholarships, and athletic scholarships are all available at UB. The University Honors College is in charge of administering the Presidential Scholarship, which requires a different application.

Scholarships for Undergraduates

Presidential Scholarship

Freshmen who demonstrate superior academic standing are eligible to apply for the most prestigious and competitive four-year UB Presidential Scholarship in the SUNY system. The University Honors College has the application available. To keep their award, presidential scholars must continue to meet high academic criteria and participate in the University Honors College.

Pride of New York Scholarship

Pride of New York Scholarships are awarded to exceptional first-year students (freshmen) in New York State. Academic merit determines the value of awards. Money is only intended for expenses other than tuition, like fees. There is no need for an extra application. For those students who continue to meet the eligibility standards, these scholarships are renewable for a period of two or four years.

Provost Scholarship

Provost Scholarships are awarded to first-year students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. The cost of enrollment and academic merit determine the award amounts. There is no need for an extra application. For those students who continue to meet the eligibility standards, these scholarships are renewable for a period of two or four years.

Empire State Diversity Honors/Daniel Acker Scholarship

Freshmen who meet the academic requirements and are qualified for the Daniel Acker Scholars Program are given these grants. There is no need for an extra application. Students who continue to meet the eligibility standards for these scholarships are eligible for renewal every four years.

School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Women’s Empowerment Scholarship

For the SEAS Women’s Empowerment Scholarship, prospective first-year students (freshmen) in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences may be chosen. Female students who show promise for leadership in the computer science and engineering sectors are given this scholarship. There is no need for an extra application.

School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Dean’s Leadership Scholarship

Upon completing their transition to the professional third year of study, all first-year students (freshmen) admitted directly into the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program through our Early Assurance Program 2+4=6 will receive a Dean’s Leadership Scholarship. There is no need for an extra application.
