Advantages of the Program and Covered Expenses

Chosen participants receive a fully sponsored, intensive experience in the United States. TechWomen encompasses the subsequent expenses:

Residential Information:

Participants will cohabit an apartment with another Emerging Leader. Every participant will possess an individual bedroom, however the living area and kitchen would be communal. Spouses, children, or dependents cannot be accommodated.

Participants bear the expenses associated with any activities not included in the program, such as individual sightseeing, cultural events, or travel unrelated to the program.

Qualified Nationalities

This scholarship is available to female students from Albania, Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Yemen, or Zimbabwe.

Criteria for Eligibility

Applicants must fulfill the following criteria to qualify for TechWomen:

  • Possess a minimum of two years of full-time professional experience in a STEM discipline at the time of application. Internships and unpaid positions are not considered valid for this requirement.
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent four-year university qualification).
  • Exhibit proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • Possess citizenship and permanent residency in one of the following nations: Albania, Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Yemen, or Zimbabwe.
  • Qualify for a U.S. J-1 exchange visitor visa.
  • Has not submitted an application for a U.S. immigrant visa (except the Diversity Visa) in the preceding five years.
  • Do not possess U.S. citizenship or permanent status.

Priority is accorded to candidates who:

  • Reside and engage in professional activities in a TechWomen program nation throughout the application phase and program involvement. Priority is afforded to individuals facing displacement.
  • Exhibit leadership potential via professional, volunteer, or community engagements.
  • Dedicate oneself to returning to their homeland to impart knowledge and mentor women and youth.
  • Possess minimal or no previous experience in the United States.
  • Demonstrate a history of community engagement, entrepreneurial initiative, and dedication to innovation.
  • Demonstrate a readiness to engage in exchange programs, mentorship, and collaborative possibilities with assurance and sophistication.

Selection Procedure

Participants in TechWomen are chosen according to the following eligibility criteria. Applications undergo evaluation by independent selection committees comprised of industry leaders and regional specialists. Semifinalists may have interviews conducted by personnel from the United States Embassy in their place of permanent residence.

Application Process

The application window for the 2025 TechWomen program remains accessible until January 7, 2025, at 9:00 AM PST (GMT-08:00). Important dates in the selection process comprise:
