The institution holds accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and is licensed by the Board of Postsecondary Institutions of Puerto Rico (JIP). The UAGM institution encompasses three primary campuses and nine university centers distributed over the island. Furthermore, it possesses the sole television channel in Puerto Rico that is associated with the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the United States.
