Concerning Ave Maria University

A Catholic university with a Florida address is called Ave Maria University. Our dedication lies in assisting our students in acquiring the necessary knowledge and abilities to thrive in life and deepen their understanding of the truth.

When it came to restoring Catholic higher education in the face of secularism, liberalism, and even doctrinal division in Catholic institutions, Ave Maria University’s founder, Tom S. Monaghan, had a dream. AMU set out to establish a genuinely Catholic institution to educate future generations of Catholics who would be obedient to the Church’s magisterium.

The concept started to materialize following an initial $250 million investment from our founder and a kind land grant from the Barron Collier Family in Southwest Florida.

Ave Maria University’s aim remains to help Catholic youngsters discover their special call to holiness and grow their faith, all while restoring the magnificence and purity of Catholic higher education.
