Regarding Queen’s College

The Queen’s College is a tightly-knit and amiable institution situated on the High Street in the heart of Oxford. We provide housing for undergraduate students during their entire degree program, and our Oxford college is known for having one of the most exquisite and well-equipped libraries.

The institution was established in 1341 and has historical connections with the North West of England. Currently, Queen’s University takes pride in possessing a friendly and inclusive environment that encourages a mindset of innovative exploration and cooperation.

Queen’s University offers a picturesque blend of traditional and modern elements, making it an ideal environment for living, studying, and socializing. Students utilize the expansive library, which is accessible at all times and features the magnificent 17th-century Upper Library as well as the modern New Library.

The College also has a rich heritage in music, sport, and drama, providing students with ample opportunities for extracurricular and social engagement when they want respite from their academic pursuits. At the daily JCR (Junior Common Room) tea, students from different years and subjects gather to socialize and bond over tea, cake, and conversation.

The students at our college are highly enthusiastic about their chosen fields of study and receive exceptional support from their teachers and other students. Additionally, they have access to numerous funding opportunities provided by the college.

Concerning Oxford University

Oxford is an autonomous and self-governing organization that includes the University, its divisions, departments, faculties, and colleges.

The educational institutions and residential buildings

The University is comprised of 36 colleges and three organizations, which are interconnected through a federal system.

Every college operates autonomously and has its own governance structure, with a charter that has been approved by the Privy Council. The Head of House, who is elected and appointed by the governing body, is responsible for overseeing the college’s administration. The governing body consists of many Fellows, the majority of whom also have positions at the University.

The three societies, namely Kellogg College, Reuben College, and St Cross College, function in a similar manner to other colleges. However, they are classified as departments of the University rather than autonomous colleges due to the absence of a royal charter, which distinguishes them from the rest. One notable distinction is that the governing body suggests a president, who is subsequently nominated by the Council.

Additionally, there are four enduring private halls that were established by various Christian groups and continue to maintain their religious nature at present.

32 of the colleges and permanent private halls accept undergraduate students for admission. All colleges have the capacity to consider applications from senior students, but Harris Manchester College exclusively caters to mature students.
