  • Applicants must be no older than 35 years at the time of application. In exceptional circumstances, for programs suitable for senior officials and managers, the age limit is set at 45 years.
  • In good health.
  • Must consent to return to their home country upon completion of study under the Program.
  • Executive Directors, Alternate Directors, ADB management and staff, consultants, and their relatives are ineligible for the Scholarship.
  • AIT personnel are ineligible for the Scholarship.
  • Applicants residing or employed in a country other than their home country are ineligible for the scholarships.
  • ADB-JSP does not accommodate applicants currently enrolled in graduate degree programs.
  • ADB-JSP does not provide sponsorship for undergraduate education, distance learning programs, short-term training, conferences, seminars, thesis writing, or research projects.

  • Priority to the ranking or order of merit suggested by AIT.
  • Applicants possessing fewer than two years of professional experience will be disqualified from selection.

  • Priority will be given to candidates with reduced financial resources. Family income must not exceed USD 50,000 annually, and individual income must not beyond USD 25,000 annually.
  • The Program will, in general, not endorse applicants who have previously pursued studies overseas.
  • The Program will generally not endorse applicants seeking a second Master’s degree.
  • Candidates applying to a Designated Institute (DI) in their home country may not be chosen.
  • The diversification of nationality within the overall Program and at each DI level shall be taken into account.
  • The Program promotes research aligned with the fundamental aspects of ADB’s Strategy 2020, which focuses on poverty alleviation via infrastructure, environmental sustainability, regional collaboration and integration, financial sector advancement, and education. Strategy 2020 delineates ADB’s strategic direction for its operations in the year 2020.
