Requirements for eligibility

To qualify, the scholarship candidate must provide a comprehensive set of the following documents.

  • The applicant is required to provide study documents that have been provided by education institutions that are authorized or recognized in the country where they were issued.
  • The applicant must adhere to the specified date for enrollment.
  • The applicant must have achieved satisfactory academic performance, with an average score of at least seven out of ten, based on the Romanian scoring system or the equivalent of a “Good” score.
  • The applicant must adhere to the specified application submission process.
  • The Romanian Government Scholarship Awards span many levels of education.

Applicants for the Romanian Government Scholarship Awards have the option to select one of three study cycles offered by a recognized higher education institution in Romania:

  • Bachelor’s degree: Bachelor’s degree programs are designed for individuals who have completed high school or pre-university studies and have received a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent. These programs are also open to candidates who wish to pursue additional university studies in Romania. The entire curriculum has a duration of 3-6 years, which varies based on the chosen specialization, and concludes with a bachelor’s examination.
  • Master’s degree: The master’s degree program is designed for undergraduate students and often lasts for 1, 1.5, or 2 years. It concludes with a dissertation test.
  • The PhD program is designed for graduate students or individuals with equal qualifications. It typically lasts for 3-5 years, depending on the specific faculty chosen. The program culminates with the submission and defense of a doctoral thesis. Admission to a PhD program and the acquisition of a scholarship are contingent upon completing an entrance examination.

Requirements for Romanian Government Scholarship Awards Documentation

To apply, individuals must register an account on the Study in Romania platform provide the necessary information, and upload the specified documents:

  • Applicants must provide copies of their diplomas, such as the baccalaureate diploma or its equivalent, as well as any bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degrees if relevant. These diplomas should be translated into English, French, Spanish, or Romanian if necessary.
  • Applicants must provide copies of their completed study transcripts, together with authorized translations into English, French, Spanish, or Romanian, if necessary.
  •  Also, applicants must provide a copy of their birth certificate (or a similar document) together with an authorized translation into English, French, Spanish, or Romanian, if necessary.
  • Applicants must provide a copy of the first three pages of their passport or national identity document, together with an authorized translation into English, French, Spanish, or Romanian, if necessary.
  • Applicants must submit their curriculum vitae in either English or French, following the specified format. For the doctorate cycle, applicants must also provide a letter of intent in either English, French, Spanish, or Romanian.

The applicant’s application must include the following documents, but only if the candidate belongs to the exact category specified for each document:

  • Applicants must provide documentation of any name change, if applicable, together with an authorized translation into English, French, Spanish, or Romanian, if necessary.
  • Applicants must provide a copy of their certificate demonstrating successful completion of the baccalaureate, bachelor’s, or master’s test, according to their educational level. If the applicant has not yet received their diploma, they must also provide an authorized translation of the certificate into English, French, Spanish, or Romanian, if appropriate.
  • Also, applicants must provide a copy of their certificate indicating that they are in their last year of study and will be taking the graduation test at the end of the school/university year. If applicable, an authorized translation into English, French, Spanish, or Romanian should also be included.
  • Applicants must include a copy of their transcript, which verifies their academic performance in their last year of studies up until the time of applying. The transcript should also be translated into English, French, Spanish, or Romanian, if necessary.
  • Applicants must provide a copy of the certificate of completion of the Romanian language preparation year or the certificate of linguistic competence, if appropriate.
  • Applicants must provide a notarized declaration of parental consent if they are under 18 years old at the start of the courses. The document should be translated into English, French, Spanish, or Romanian, if necessary.
  • Each document from the applicant must be scanned separately, following the original, in .pdf format.
  • For an applicant’s registration to be considered legal, they must provide their explicit permission to the agreement for the processing of personal data by signing the GDPR declaration.
