The University of Calabria
The University of Calabria, also known as UniCal, is located in the hamlet of Arcavacata, in the municipality of Rende, in the southern region of Italy. Calabria is occasionally referred to as the “toe” of Italy’s “boot” shape.
The University of Calabria was the inaugural residential campus institution in Italy and continues to be one of the few in a nation mostly characterized by university towns. The campus office is tasked with delivering residential services. Students have access to a variety of facilities on campus, such as a sports center, a health center, theaters, and museums.
There are a total of 780 spaces available for overseas students who want to enroll in one of the bachelor’s or master’s degree programs. The university language center provides Italian lessons for foreign participants seeking to enhance their language skills. Additionally, the center serves as a venue for acquiring new languages, such as Spanish or German.
The University of Calabria provides instruction in six academic disciplines: engineering, economics, political and social sciences, humanities, education, sciences, pharmacy, nutritional sciences, and health sciences. The university is organized into 14 departments, each of which provides 80 degree programs.
About 36,000 people are living in Rende, a small municipality. The institution takes great satisfaction in the amicability of its faculty and students, as well as the welcoming attitude provided to visitors by the residents.
The region is renowned for its exceptional scenic splendor. Hiking routes may be found in the surrounding Sila, Pollino, and Aspromonte mountains, while ski slopes are located just 30 minutes away at the heights of Camigliatello. Within a 30-minute distance from the school, local beaches provide the opportunity for a serene day of sunbathing or swimming in the pleasant Tyrrhenian waters.
