- Be employees, advisors, or immediate family members of ADB personnel.
- Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program or have prior experience studying abroad.
Selection Criteria
- Candidate’s qualifications
- Priority to the rating or order of merit suggested by the Designated Institutions
- Preference for female candidates
- Priority will be accorded to candidates with reduced financial means.
- The Program will, in general, not endorse applicants who have previously pursued studies overseas.
- The Program will generally not endorse applicants seeking a second master’s degree.
- Candidates applying to a Designated Institution in their home country may not be chosen.
- The diversity of nationality within the overall Program and at each Designated Institution level will be taken into account.
- Priority will be accorded to individuals exhibiting greater potential for senior roles in development-related endeavors and who have shown a professional commitment and aspiration to contribute to development in their native countries.
The proposed fields of study must be closely aligned with the candidate’s academic background and professional experience, and should correspond to (a) the operational priority areas of ADB’s long-term strategy and/or (b) the priority concerns and development challenges addressed by Japan’s ODA.
