Concerning TGGS
With strong backing from the governments of Thailand and Germany, the Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering (TGGS) was founded as a public-private partnership to advance engineering education, technology, innovation, and economic growth in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Its industry-focused engineering education approach blends research and teaching, drawing from the successful model of Germany’s RWTH-Aachen University, one of the top technical universities in Europe.
International master’s and doctoral programs in many engineering specialties are available from TGGS. To help our students acquire soft skills for future international professions, TGGS’s multicultural environment is established with a decent mix of international students.
TGGS undertakes advanced research and translational research and development projects for industry clients as a crucial component of industry-oriented education. Through their work on their theses and industrial internships, the students have connected industry research and development initiatives.
Furthermore, RWTH-Aachen University provides TGGS with academic support by sending academics to provide block lectures and open seminars to inform students and the public about the latest developments in technology. The numerous exchange students who attend both TGGS and RWTH-Aachen University each semester serve as evidence of our close Thai-German cooperation.
History
The Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering (TGGS) was established in 1996 by the bilateral collaboration between the Thai and German governments, represented by KMUTNB and RWTH-Aachen University, respectively, after nearly 50 years of Thai-German cooperation at King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB).
The main objective of TGGS’s founding is to create a graduate school in Southeast Asia that is focused on industry, following RWTH-Aachen University’s successful model. Both parties agreed to contribute equally to the initial establishment. While the German government supplied cutting-edge lab equipment, the Thai government made investments in infrastructure and structures.
Graduate programs in many engineering specialties are available at TGGS. As part of its industry-oriented education philosophy, TGGS works closely with industry partners and connects students to real-world problem-solving experiences through various study program components, including internships and theses.
The high caliber of TGGS alumni and the school’s accomplishments in research performances serve as evidence of the effectiveness of the industry-oriented education approach, which has earned TGGS widespread recognition today.
