Prerequisites:

  • Scientific Accomplishment: Candidates must possess a verifiable track record of scientific accomplishments.
  • Applicants must be returning to Germany specifically to fulfill their residency training.
  • Host Institution: The research will be conducted at a German academic hospital.
  • Clinical Responsibilities: Upon being awarded, the winner shall be exempted from performing clinical activities for a minimum duration of one year.
  • Protected Time: After the first year, the grantee will receive periodic dedicated time for study for a further two years in total.
  • Host Institution Selection: Applicants are not obligated to indicate a specific host institution during the application process. The selection of the institution will be made in collaboration with the Jung Foundation subsequent to the receipt of the prize.

Procedure for Selection:

  • The Jung Foundation for Science and Research’s Scientific Advisory Board will be responsible for choosing applicants.
  • Final Selection Round: Up to three candidates will be extended an invitation to participate in a face-to-face interview in Hamburg.

If relevant, please submit a PDF certificate of residency training in a clinical subject, such as clinical microbiology, laboratory medicine, or pathology. (Subjects such as epidemiology, pharmacology, and immunology, which are preclinical or theoretical in nature, are not eligible.)
