  • The HAW Hamburg Excellence Scholarships 2024 in Germany are open to students pursuing bachelor’s degree programs at HAW Hamburg.

  • The excellence scholarships are monetary grants of at least €1,800 that are awarded for a duration of one semester.

Applicable nationalities for the HAW Hamburg Excellence Scholarship:

  • This grant is available to students from any country.

Requirements for HAW Hamburg Excellence Scholarship Eligibility:

If you meet the following criteria, you are eligible to apply for an excellence scholarship:

  • You are a student from another country studying at HAW Hamburg.
  • If you have acquired your higher education admission qualification from a foreign country or if you have done preparatory studies at a German Studienkolleg, please indicate.
  • You have successfully finished a minimum of two semesters (for bachelor’s students) or one semester (for master’s students) at HAW Hamburg and are currently within the prescribed duration of your degree program.
  • You are ineligible for BAföG or any other form of government financial assistance.
  • Your mean grade is at least 2.2.

Required application materials:

  • If you are seeking an excellence scholarship for the first time, it is important to procure letters of recommendation from two professors within your academic program.
  • Master’s students who have previously been awarded an excellence scholarship during their bachelor’s studies must also provide two up-to-date letters of reference.
  • Other students who have already submitted two letters are exempt from resubmitting them.

The submission of the following documents is required:

  • Curriculum Vitae (maximum of 2 pages)
  • Enrollment certificate issued by myHAW
  • A transcript obtained from myHAW, containing data on the average grade and total completed credit points.
  • Students in degree courses within the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, excluding Automotive Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, whose average grade and credit points are not included in their transcript, will have the International Office obtain this information from the FSB after the application deadline.
  • Provide a duplicate of your residency permit (for non-EU nationals) or a duplicate of your passport or personal ID card (for EU citizens).
  • Form for providing bank account information
  • Form for documenting financial circumstances
  • Professors should email their letters of reference immediately to io_scholarships (at) haw-hamburg (dot) de)

Procedure for applying for the HAW Hamburg Excellence Scholarship:

After collecting all the required documents, kindly upload them to the application portal (Mobility Online) before the deadline. Ensure that you allocate an adequate amount of time for yourself. You will receive notification regarding the status of your application within a period of four weeks following the deadline.

The winter semester commences on the 30th of September every year.
