The European Commission (EU) Blue Book Paid Traineeship Program for the 2024–2025 term is available to international students in Belgium and Luxembourg. The scholarship enables short-term training programs in several subjects offered by the European Commission. The scholarship deadline is March 15, 2024.

The European Union Blue Book Traineeship Program 2024–2025, managed by the European Commission, offers students a unique chance to participate in EU programs and policies. Eligible Countries:

International students of all nationalities are eligible for this traineeship.

Eligibility Requirements:

Education:

  • Applicants must possess a normal 3-year higher education degree, which is at least EQF level 6, comparable to a full bachelor’s cycle.
  • Official paperwork, such as diplomas or certificates, showing final grades and verification of at least EQF level 6, must be submitted.
  • A university certification verifying the degree is also acceptable.

Work experience restrictions:

Candidates must not have worked for more than 6 weeks in any EU institution, body, agency, or delegation, with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), or Advocates General at the Court of Justice of the European Union (EUCJ).

Language Proficiency Criteria:

For administrative internships:

  • Fluency in two EU official languages, with one being a working language (English, French, or German) at the C1 or C2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  • Proficiency in a second language at a minimum B2 level.

Applying for a translation traineeship with DGT.

  • Proficiency in translating from two official EU languages (source languages) into the main/target language (typically the mother tongue).
  • The main/target language must be an official language of the EU, the first source language must be a working language of the EU (English, French, or German); and the second source language can be any official EU language with a skill level of at least B2.

Important Note:

One of the source languages for translation must be French, English, or German due to the great volume and regular use of translations in these languages inside the EU.

Procedure for Applying:

  • Establish an EU login or connection.
  • New users should sign up for the European Commission Authentication Service (EU Login) to begin their application.
  • Click on “Create an account,” complete the registration form, submit it, and then check your email for confirmation.
  • Click on the link provided in the email to set up your password, select and confirm it, and then move on to the application form.
  • Use your email or EU login username for future logins. Electronic identification documents are not permitted for candidates applying for EC traineeships.

Fill out and submit the application form.

Access the application form by logging into your candidate account, clicking on “Send an application,” and choosing the traineeship type.

Adhere to instructions diligently, finish each section, and navigate via the menu on the left-hand side.

Save your progress to resume later, preview your work before submitting it, and remember that alterations cannot be made after it is published.

Submit Supplementary Materials:

  • Make sure you upload all rationale documents that support the information provided on the application form before submitting.
  • The pre-selection committee necessitates sufficient evidence of stated studies, language proficiency, and experience.
  • Ensure all necessary documents are ready before the deadline, as no more documents will be accepted after submission.
  • Technical assistance will be provided within 3 working days if needed.
  • Await the outcome of the application evaluation.
  • After submission, await the evaluation findings, which will be sent to you via email.
  • If accepted, you will receive an invitation to apply for open traineeship jobs.
  • Consistently monitor your account for posted outcomes and adhere to further guidelines.
