Study In Denmark: University Of Copenhagen Scholarships 2024
Over the years, the University of Copenhagen has been a remarkable choice for international students seeking to experience Danish culture and receive a high-quality education for their future professions.
The University of Copenhagen, a public research university in Copenhagen, Denmark, was established in 1479 as a theological university. It has evolved into a secular higher education institution and is the second-oldest university in Scandinavia and one of Europe’s leading universities.
The university, with six faculties on four campuses in the capital city, has unveiled its scholarship program for prospective students interested in studying there. We urge all applicants to carefully pay attention to all the material offered here.
Regarding the University of Copenhagen
Established in 1479, the University of Copenhagen consisted of four faculties: theology, law, medicine, and philosophy. It is the most ancient university in Denmark and the second oldest in Scandinavia. It is the largest university in Denmark. The university underwent significant transformations throughout its history, starting as an academic republic with autonomous legal and judicial systems. This status was upheld until 1771 when it gradually lost its authority in the 1960s.
The University of Copenhagen currently consists of over 100 departments and research centers, organized into six faculties: health and medical sciences, humanities, law, science, social sciences, and theology. These faculties provide over 200 programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and postgraduate levels. Several courses are available in English.
The institution has around 5,000 academic staff, with approximately 80% of them being research professionals. In 2015, the institution conducted almost 4,500 research projects funded by subsidies.
University of Copenhagen Scholarships Admission Criteria
Bachelor programs at the University of Copenhagen are only available in Danish. International applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the Danish language and submit the required documentation as evidence.
International undergraduate applicants must fulfill the general academic prerequisites, which include a 6.0 Danish equivalent GPA. Additionally, the university’s bachelor’s degrees have distinct admission criteria.
International applicants must meet specific language criteria based on their degree program to enroll in English-taught graduate programs at the university. Applicants can demonstrate their English language proficiency by submitting an official test score, such as TOEFL or IELTS. Applicants for English-taught programs are not required to fulfill Danish language requirements.
International graduate applicants must have a minimum degree comparable to a Danish bachelor’s degree. Applicants must have completed the necessary bachelor’s program to be eligible for their chosen master’s program. Various criteria for graduate study may include particular coursework, GPA, national entrance exams, and language proficiency tests, depending on the program.
