Requirements for English Proficiency

• International applicants whose native language is English or who have completed an English-taught degree program (undergraduate or above) are exempt from submitting an English proficiency test report.
• Applicants from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan are required to submit a report of their English proficiency exam, irrespective of their educational qualifications.
• Applicants from the Chinese Mainland: A report of English proficiency testing is required.

• IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 7.0;
• TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 100.
• Cambridge English Scale (Advanced):
• Overall Score 185 CET 6:
• Total 600 TEM 4: Pass level of “Good” or above

NOTE:

• English proficiency examinations are required to be completed subsequent to September 1, 2023.
• TOEFL MyBest Scores, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, IELTS Indicator exam, IELTS Online, and IELTS One Skill Retake are not permissible.
• English exam scores must be transmitted directly to Yenching Academy by the testing entity. The TOEFL institution code is C488.

Application Process Required Documents

• Research Interest Statement (maximum 1500 words, excluding references)

• Applicants must possess a valid passport and be non-Chinese citizens. Individuals from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan who have emigrated and are applying to Peking University as international students must provide a valid passport or citizenship documents issued before April 30, 2019, along with evidence of the renunciation of Chinese nationality.
