Yanbian University is situated in Yanji City, which serves as the administrative center of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province. It is commonly referred to as the “Land of Education” and is a nationally recognized university known for its exceptional excellence.  China’s “211 project” primarily focuses on the growth of universities and the promotion of Western regions. The National Civil Affairs Commission, the Jilin Provincial People’s Government, and the Ministry of Education collaborate to provide support for the development of universities.

The University was established in 1949 and was among the first universities constructed by the Communist Party of China in regions with ethnic minority populations. The University offers a diverse array of academic fields that span across multiple sectors.

In addition, Yanbian University has been acknowledged as one of the prestigious national core disciplines. The University was ranked 4th among colleges and universities in terms of “top priority” and ranked 12th in the provincial advantages of important construction academic fields in Jilin Province. Yanbian University has been granted approval and conferred first-class academic discipline status, together with 15 emerging interdisciplinary disciplines, as part of the “13th Five-Year Plan” for the creation of high-level academic programs in Colleges and Universities of Jilin Province.

• Tuition and Accommodation: We will exempt you from paying the costs of tuition and accommodation for a double room throughout the whole two-year period of the scholarship.
• Stipend: You will be granted a monthly stipend of 1,700 yuan to assist with your living costs throughout the scholarship.
• Fundamental Medical Insurance: We will furnish you with essential medical insurance during your tenure as a scholarship recipient.

Attention:

The scholarship provides financial coverage only for the duration of the two-year financing period. You will be accountable for any expenses you generate beyond that specified period. The expenses will be billed by the identical criteria that apply to students who support their education.

Yanbian University Jilin Government Scholarship eligibility

This award is available to students from any country throughout the world. (excluding individuals who hold Chinese citizenship)

The eligibility criteria for the Yanbian University Jilin Government Scholarship are as follows:

• Education Requirement: Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree.
• Age Requirement: Applicants must be below the age of 35 at the time of submitting their application.
• Chinese Proficiency Requirement: Applicants must exhibit a minimum level of Chinese proficiency that is at least equivalent to the new HSK level 5 or a similar norm.

Process of selecting and informing individuals

Yanbian University will evaluate the documents you submitted as part of your application. If you are selected as a candidate, you will be sent an “Admission Notice” and a “Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China” at the beginning of August. These materials will assist you in the process of applying for a student visa.

Supplementary Remarks

• Applicants are required to submit all application materials in either Chinese or English. If your documents are written in a language other than Chinese or English, you must provide a translation that has been notarized.
• Graduation diplomas and transcripts are not mandatory for Yanbian University graduates.
