Concerning the University of Winnipeg

As a vibrant campus and downtown center, the University of Winnipeg fosters cross-cultural understanding and the development of global citizens.

Our top-notch undergraduate and graduate programs include several that are not found anywhere else in Western Canada, like the Master’s program in Development Practice with an Indigenous Development concentration and the Bachelor of Arts in Human Rights. Given that UWinnipeg is renowned for its small class numbers, academic distinction, and dedication to Indigenous inclusion, our graduates cherish their educational experience.

Every day, more than 2,000 students, teachers, staff, and visitors are housed at the Richardson College for the Environment & Science Complex.  Our esteemed faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and one of Canada’s most inventive science complexes are investigating and learning about the most difficult problems we have to deal with: pollution in our lakes and air, isotope production and cancer experiments, and climate change.

Our cutting-edge Axworthy Health and RecPlex provide possibilities for student practice and innovative research in applied health, education, and kinesiology. Sports and leisure programs are available at the RecPlex for students, Wesmen athletes, and the general public.

Why attend the University of Winnipeg?

1. A vibrant and diverse campus

Our dynamic downtown campus offers a varied blend of contemporary amenities and historic landmarks, from the famous Wesley Hall to the ultra-modern Buhler Center and state-of-the-art RecPlex. UWinnipeg’s central location is bike-friendly and conveniently accessible by transportation (21 bus routes arrive right at campus). It is close to a variety of shopping, dining, and cultural venues.

2. Small Class Sizes

Your academic experience will be improved by having more opportunities to meet new people, ask questions, and get to know your lecturers in smaller classes. Smaller class numbers (between 30 and 60 students) facilitate simpler and more comfortable socialization right away. 37 students make up an average first- and second-year class.

3. Early Hands-On Learning

Being involved in research is one of the most cherished university achievements. It broadens your perspective on the world, raises your educational bar, and enables you to make contributions to your field of study. At UWinnipeg, undergraduate students have the exclusive chance to engage in research, a chance that most other universities only provide to graduate students.

Our kind and accommodating lecturers have a big impact on your educational experience. You will have access to these brilliant minds outside of the classroom, in addition to receiving instruction from award-winning teachers and motivational researchers in your profession. Your success in your studies and the opening of doors to prospects are priorities for our academics.

4. Top-quality education at an Affordable Price

Among the easiest universities in Canada to get to is the University of Winnipeg. Manitoba has the third-lowest tuition rate in Canada, which is advantageous for students. The average tuition for a university student in Ontario was $7,938, but the average tuition for a student in Manitoba was $4,913. (Canada Statistics, 2020)

5. Students Matter Most

The students themselves are among UWinnipeg’s strongest advocates. 92% of students who graduated said they were happy with the caliber of education they had received.* It is evident that we are dedicated to giving students an unmatched experience.
