Study In Australia: LPDP – Australia Awards Scholarship 2024 – Application Process

The LPDP-Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS) 2024 is a collaborative funding initiative between the LPDP (Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education) and the Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS). It offers Indonesian individuals the opportunity to obtain a master’s degree in fields such the blue economy, green/renewable economy, and digital/information technology at 22 Australian universities.

Intended Audience

The LPDP-AAS program targets Indonesian citizens (WNI) and is accessible to civil servants (CPNS/PNS). Nonetheless, it is inaccessible to personnel of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) or the Indonesian National Police (POLRI).

Program Framework

The LPDP-AAS program is limited to master’s degree programs that require a single degree and last 24 months. Study programs related to the green/renewable economy, the blue economy, and digital/information technology are all offered. Candidates must use the LPDP registration system to finish the application and selection process.

Upon selection, the Australia Awards in Indonesia (AAI) team will facilitate their registration at the designated university. Applicants need not upload an Unconditional Letter of Offer (LoA) during the application process and may select three universities or fields of study.

Overview of LPDP

The 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia stipulates that a minimum of twenty percent of the State Budget (APBN) must be designated for educational purposes. In 2010, the Indonesian government and the House of Representatives (DPR) enacted Law Number 2 of 2010 about the 2010 Revised State Budget (APBN-P), stipulating that a portion of the money designated for educational purposes in the APBN-P would be transferred to the National Education Development money (DPPN). The assets are administered as endowment funds by a Public Service Agency (BLU).

In 2011, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Education and Culture concurred that the administration of DPPN and the allocation of the revenues from fund management should be executed by the Ministry of Finance. The institution will receive support from the administration and personnel of both ministries.

The Regulation of the Minister of Finance (PMK) Number 252/PMK.01/2011, dated December 28, 2011, establishes the Organization and Governance of the Indonesia Endowment Funds for Education as a non-echelon institution directly accountable to the Minister of Finance and regulated by the policies set forth by the LPDP Board of Trustees (comprising the Minister of Education and Culture, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Religious Affairs). The Minister of Finance’s Decree (KMK) No. 18/KMK.05/2012, dated January 30, 2012, designates LPDP as a governmental entity responsible for implementing the financial framework of a Public Service Agency.

The Government has adopted Presidential Decree Number 12 of 2019 to enhance accountability and transparency in the management of the education endowment fund. The LPDP Board of Trustees, including nine ministers, establishes the strategic policies and direction of the education endowment.
