The World Bank’s Development Economics Vice Presidency (DEC) supports the organization’s objective of creating innovative, cutting-edge methods for knowledge exchange and capacity building in developing nations by awarding scholarships to scholars and students.
It plays a significant role in the World Bank’s initiatives to support shared prosperity and economic development in developing nations by funding human resource development, capacity building, and education.
Since 1982, the DEC’s scholarship programs have contributed to the formation of a pool of more than 6,000 skilled and knowledgeable scholars and development professionals, who have transformed their nations and had a beneficial influence on coming generations.
Current Initiatives
Through the JJ/WBGSP or Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program, more than 6,000 mid-career professionals from 160 developing nations as well as Japan have been able to finish graduate degrees in development-related subjects since 1987. Each year, the Government of Japan provides all funding for the JJ/WBGSP.
Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program (RSMFP): This program has supported young researchers in development-related fields on a broad range of themes since 1982. As it is, the program links up-and-coming young researchers with World Bank data resources, research, and technical know-how.
