Duration of Scholarship:

The ADB-JSP Japan Scholarship is in its inaugural year. If the scholar consistently meets the institute’s performance standards, the scholarship may be renewed for the second year of study.

The scholarship can be utilized for a maximum duration of two (2) years to fulfill the requirements of a master’s degree program.

Requirements for the ADB Scholarships in 2024

Prospective applicants for the ADB-JSP Japan Scholarship must fulfill the following criteria:

  • A person who resides in a country and is qualified to receive loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is also eligible to receive a scholarship from the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA).
  • Enrolled in a prestigious Master’s degree program at a college or institution.
  • A prerequisite for this position is the possession of a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification, together with a strong academic performance.
  • Upon obtaining a college degree, it is necessary to possess a minimum of two (2) years of full-time professional work experience at the point of entry. Fluency in both spoken and written English is required to pursue studies.
  • The maximum age allowed at the time of application is 35. Occasionally, programs designed for high-level executives and managers may have an age restriction of 45.
  • Experiencing positive emotions.
  • They must demonstrate a willingness to repatriate to their native nation upon completion of the program.
  • The scholarship excludes executive directors, alternate directors, executives and personnel of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), consultants, or close relatives of these individuals.
  • Individuals employed at schools authorized by ADB-JSP are ineligible for the Scholarship.
  • Individuals who submit scholarship applications but reside or are employed outside of their country of origin are ineligible.
  • Students currently enrolled in graduate school are ineligible for assistance from ADB–JSP.
  • ADB-JSP does not provide financial support for college courses, online learning, short-term training, conferences, seminars, thesis writing, or research projects.

The selection process for the ADB-JSP Japan Scholarship involves the evaluation and selection of candidates.

The school will evaluate and order the applications according to its own set of criteria, while also considering the ADB’s qualifying requirements and selection criteria. As part of the review process, the school may contact the candidates to get more information. Subsequently, the institution will transmit to ADB a prioritized roster of candidates, accompanied by an elucidation of the assessment or evaluation system employed to determine the ranks.

The academic schools will submit their bids to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which will thereafter evaluate them and select recipients based on its own set of criteria. The pick will be officially approved by the Executive Director of Japan.

After receiving approval from the Executive Director of Japan, the ADB will inform the academic schools about the identities of the awardees.

The school will inform all applicants of their outcomes in the selection process and commence preparations for the successful candidates to commence their grants.

Academics concur that once completing their education, they will return to their nation of origin. The schools will ensure that the scholarship recipients sign an agreement of acceptance.

The ADB will dispatch an appropriate letter of felicitation to scholars via the school.
