Simon Fraser University Scholarships 2024

Scholarships honor exceptional academic performance. Both international and Canadian students are eligible for scholarships. Financial Aid and Awards will send you a written notification if you are the recipient of a scholarship. The large number of applications that are received each term may mean that funds are not paid until the middle of the application term. We advise you to make appropriate plans.

Details of the Scholarship

  • Host University: Simon Fraser University
  • Host Country: Canada
  • Study level: Undergraduate
  • Eligible Candidates: International students

Concerning Simon Fraser University

With three vibrant urban campuses, Simon Fraser University—Canada’s most community-engaged research university—was founded in 1965 on the picturesque west coast of British Columbia.

SFU was a pioneer in the open, inclusive approach to higher education that fosters learning, discovery, community outreach, and global connectedness. It is consistently ranked among Canada’s best comprehensive universities.

SFU’s eight faculties—Applied Sciences, Arts and Social Sciences, Business, Communication, Art and Technology, Education, Environment, Health Sciences, and Science—offer a wide range of programs. SFU also provides students with a variety of experiential learning opportunities, including international field schools and exchanges, work-integrated learning, and the ground-breaking Semester in Dialogue, which focuses on social and civic issues.

The original campus, created by well-known Canadian architects Geoffrey Massey and Arthur Erickson, has over 36 academic buildings, the Trottier Observatory, and the Compute Canada building, which houses Cedar, one of Canada’s supercomputing and data centers.

SFU’s Harbour Centre campus, located in the center of Vancouver’s financial district, opened for business in 1989. The Segal Graduate School of Business, the Morris J. Wosk Center for Dialogue, the Charles Chang Innovation Center, and the Goldcorp Center for the Arts are among the seven locations on the campus that are currently open. Bing Thom, a renowned architect, created a brand-new structure on the Surrey campus that the Sustainable Energy Engineering program moved into in 2019.

Why attend Simon Fraser University to study?

At SFU, we’re committed to creating cutting-edge research that advances society, students ready to take on the increasingly demanding demands of the modern workforce, and a thriving campus community that values justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Impactful Research and Innovation

Our robust partner networks and depth of research excellence contribute to our academic culture.

Academic Excellence For the Greater Good

In British Columbia and around the world, our faculty members foster social innovations, advance research breakthroughs, and develop solutions that support a more inventive, inclusive, and sustainable economy. Through collaborations and projects with various academic institutions and international organizations, our research and creativity are assisting in the transformation of the world.

Education That Distinguishes Our Students

Our graduates are equipped with the knowledge and abilities necessary to reach their full potential as professionals and engaged citizens.

Also, our culture encourages the pursuit of innovation and academic excellence, and we offer a wide range of programs that are relevant to the industry.

Our eight faculties provide students with countless chances to engage in academic exploration, build all-encompassing skill sets, and follow distinctive career pathways.

Skills for the Future

Professional experience, in our opinion, enhances our students’ education and better equips them for the future. Our students can gain practical experience throughout their academic journeys thanks to our co-op education program, which is among the biggest in Canada.

In addition, we provide a wide range of regional and worldwide field schools and exchanges, research grants for undergraduate students, volunteer stewardship opportunities, and leadership development programs.

We cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset and provide an interdisciplinary ecosystem that facilitates all phases of the innovation process, including ideation, mentorship, industry and community partnerships, and scalable ventures.

Eligibility requirements

Applying for a scholarship requires that you:

  • have finished a minimum of 12 units of SFU standard-graded coursework.
  • During the application term, be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units of SFU-standard-graded courses.
  • Possess a minimum SFU CGPA of 3.50.

Credit-free, audit, and challenge courses are not taken into account.

Since a co-op term is not a traditional graded course, enrolling in three units does not fulfill the enrollment requirement.

If a student with a disability satisfies all other eligibility requirements and is enrolled in six or more units of standard-graded courses, they can apply for scholarships. The applicant must submit a letter from SFU’s Center for Accessible Learning (CAL) verifying the student’s registration with the center.

If a student has an SFU entrance award, they may apply for any other scholarship that the university offers.

Until the entrance scholarship is paid in full, a student who holds an SFU entrance scholarship is not eligible for any other scholarship administered by the university. This policy applies to any postponed entrance scholarship period.

Only Indigenous students are eligible for some forms of financial aid. The term “Indigenous” can be defined more precisely as “Indigenous peoples of Canada,” referring to Métis, Inuit, and First Nations peoples.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Fees and tuition for a master’s or professional program that qualifies
  • a monthly living stipend of $2,000 during the academic year
  • a thorough enrichment program with access to a worldwide network, multidisciplinary learning, and mentorship
