Production manager Needed at a research and manufacturing company
A reputable research and manufacturing company invites interested persons to apply for the following position: PRODUCTION MANAGER
JOB PURPOSE
The Production manager will be responsible for the technical management, supervision and control of the institution’s production processes
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Firstly, Estimating, negotiating and agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and managers Re-negotiating timescales or schedules as necessary
- Secondly, Selecting ordering and purchasing materials
- Thirdly, Linising with buyers and marketing and sales staff
- Moreover, Supervising and managing the work of junior staff
- Additionally, Organising relevant training sessions
- Furthermore, Overseeing manufacturing and production processes
- More so, Creating and executing daily, weekly, monthly and annual production schedules
- Most importantly, Procuring factory production equipment and taking responsibility for its maintenance
- Then, Striving to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines Maintaining hygienic conditions for both employees and the factory itself
- Also, Implementing all the company’s procedures and policies
- Afterwards, Communicating any problems or obstacles to senior management
- Last but not least, Monitoring productivity rates, standards and quality control
- Finally, Training and coaching factory operators and sorters Implementing safety, health, environment and quality requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree in production, manufacturing, materials science and engineering or a related field is essential for this role
- A Master’s Degree from an accredited tertiary institution
- At least five (5) years of experience in a related field.
COMPETENCIES
- Basic understanding of patterns and grading
- Knowledge of retail maths and the ability to calculate wholesale costs, resource requirements planning (RRP) and margins
- Excellent understanding of lean manufacturing
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel to support work-in-progress and production schedules
- Excelent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) systems
- Ability to operate al manufacturing or production line equipment
