ROLE: Coordinator, Client Services

IJM Ghana works with Ghanaian government agencies to rescue victims, hold perpetrators accountable, heal survivors, and help public justice actors enhance vulnerable protection systems.

The Need

For 25 years, IJM has led the fight against violence against vulnerable people. We need a qualified social worker to join the Aftercare team to provide psychosocial treatment for trafficking survivors and their main caregivers as we grow to safeguard 500 million people from violence by 2030. This job requires frequent travel from Accra to other Ghanaian cities.

This Accra-based post reports to Manager, Aftercare.

Responsibilities

  • Work with government partners to provide emergency crisis treatment, advocacy, and assessments for trafficking victims and ensure they receive legally necessary government protections;
  • Facilitate comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and service execution to safely reunite and restore the survivor according to best practices;
  • Work with multidisciplinary advocates and care providers to engage, prepare, and support victims and witnesses during legal processes;
  • Mentor and support social welfare officers and other stakeholders to empower survivors of trafficking to restoration by conducting holistic assessments, developing individualized care plans, coordinating psychosocial services, monitoring and reporting survivor progress toward psychosocial goals, and assessing sustainable safety at case closure;
  • Develop trusted partnerships with regional and national judicial system authorities, social welfare officers, and other stakeholders;
  • Develop a network of collaborative partnerships in key program areas to serve IJM aftercare participants’ holistic needs, including health, education, income generation, protective services, mental health, basic needs (food, housing), and other relevant needs;
  • Develop and provide high-quality, professional trauma-informed case management and service provision training to multi-disciplinary stakeholders;
  • Support police, court, and social welfare training on survivor-friendly and trauma-informed treatments for trafficking survivors;
  • Mentor social welfare and justice officials to safeguard and restore trafficking victim trauma-informedly;
  • Report survivors’ assistance provision and progress in IJM’s internal computerized database and other reports as needed;
  • Effectively document and evaluate trafficking instances to aid Justice System reform and capacity improvement;
  • Complete other tasks as directed by the Director of Justice Projects;

Requirements

  • A Master’s in psychology or social work is preferable.
  • Minimum two years of case management, psychosocial assessments, and interventions experience;
  • Experience delivering psychological treatment to vulnerable groups or trauma sufferers;
  • Providing trauma-informed service interventions;
  • Partners and clients getting services have excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Experience collaborating with other social service providers;
  • Computer savvy with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel;
  • Highly proficient in written and spoken English, with fluency in Dangme, Ewe, and Twi preferable.
