A reputable research and manufacturing company invites interested persons to apply for the following position: PRODUCTION MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE

The Production manager will be responsible for the technical management, supervision and control of the institution’s production processes

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Firstly, Estimating, negotiating and agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and managers Re-negotiating timescales or schedules as necessary
• Secondly, Selecting ordering and purchasing materials
• Thirdly, Linising with buyers and marketing and sales staff
• Moreover, Supervising and managing the work of junior staff
• Additionally, Organising relevant training sessions
• Furthermore, Overseeing manufacturing and production processes
• More so, Creating and executing daily, weekly, monthly and annual production schedules
• Most importantly, Procuring factory production equipment and taking responsibility for its maintenance
• Then, Striving to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines Maintaining hygienic conditions for both employees and the factory itself
• Also, Implementing all the company’s procedures and policies
• Afterwards, Communicating any problems or obstacles to senior management
• Last but not least, Monitoring productivity rates, standards and quality control
• Finally, Training and coaching factory operators and sorters Implementing safety, health, environment and quality requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• A bachelor’s degree in production, manufacturing, materials science and engineering or a related field is essential for this role
• A Master’s Degree from an accredited tertiary institution
• At least five (5) years of experience in a related field.

COMPETENCIES

• Basic understanding of patterns and grading
• Knowledge of retail maths and the ability to calculate wholesale costs, resource requirements planning (RRP) and margins
• Excellent understanding of lean manufacturing
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel to support work-in-progress and production schedules
• Excelent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) systems
• Ability to operate al manufacturing or production line equipment
