POSITION: Field Office MEAL Coordinator

Job Description.

  • Job Title: Field Office Meal Coordinator Department: Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Location: Country To Be Specified
  • Supervisory Relationships: Managerial Reporting: Reports to the Country Director from the field office.
  • Technical Reporting: Provides updates to the Monitoring and Evaluation team at Qatar Charity Headquarters (QCHQ).

Job Purpose

The MEAL Coordinator helps Qatar Charity advance its goal by establishing and implementing thorough monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning procedures. This important function strives to improve the effectiveness and impact of Qatar Charity’s humanitarian and development activities in the assigned country.

Core Responsibilities

  • Implement and improve Qatar Charity’s policies and processes for monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and learn about project and program activities.
  • Strategic management and oversight include monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning procedures.
  • Provide actionable insights to HQ through field data analysis.
  • Support and build capacity for Qatar Charity’s activities to ensure ongoing success.
  • Collaborate with employees, partner NGOs, and stakeholders.
  • Analyse data, generate reports, and communicate survey and assessment results.
  • Update the program monitoring frameworks and indicators.
  • Sector Intervention and Accountability:
  • Oversee new sectoral interventions and conduct needed evaluations.
  • Maintain accountability standards and ensure compliance with organizational frameworks.
  • Promote a culture of learning and reflection in the workplace.
  • Organize and carry out studies, assessments, and learning activities.
  • Advise and support the development of MEAL systems.
  • Mentor MEAL employees, assisting in their development through recruitment, orientation, and performance management.

Training and Professional Development

Essential training includes project management, MEAL, data analysis, and report writing.
Ongoing creation: Prioritize results-oriented management, needs assessment, project proposal creation, and effective program/project monitoring.

Reporting and Coordination

  • Internal: Collaborate closely with the Country Management Team, Program Managers, and Project Officers.
  • External: Communicate with donors, NGO partners, and community organizations.
    Reporting: Keep a balance between managerial and technical reporting lines.

Required Skill or Experience

  • Educational background: A university degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development studies, or a comparable discipline.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in humanitarian and/or development programs/projects, ideally monitoring and evaluation.
  • Competencies include proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative research approaches.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (for English-speaking countries); French and Arabic (for French-speaking countries).
  • Advanced knowledge of computer applications (MS Office, SPSS, EPI-Info, STATA, Kobo, Power BI, Microsoft Forms, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, leadership, and coordination skills.
    Travel Requirements: Regular, sometimes short-notice trips to field office sites.
