ROLE: Operations Manager 

Farming In Africa (FIA) is a B2B company based in Ghana with a presence in the majority of African countries. Its mission is to revolutionize the farming industry in Africa through education, agricultural services, and solutions ranging from quality and pure genetic breeds of various livestock, improved seeds (plants and livestock nutrition), innovative small-scale tools and equipment, and finally practical training and education on all social media platforms. We are a fast-growing network of firms looking for a highly motivated, coachable, and entrepreneurial-spirited individual who is open to continuous learning to take on the role of Operations Manager.

Overview of the Role 

As the Operations Manager, you will be in charge of supervising and implementing our company’s operational and organizational standards. Your responsibilities will involve administrative chores as well as designing and implementing business strategy.

When necessary, independence, self-motivation, and great interpersonal skills are advantageous. The ideal applicant should also have excellent work ethics, be adaptable to a range of scenarios, and be able to multitask.

Responsibilities:

  • You will do the following as an operations manager:
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of all commercial activities.
  • Ensure that all operations in all company initiatives are conducted in a suitable and cost-effective manner.
  • Manage the operational budgets of the organization, ensuring that resources are used efficiently.
  • Manage and supervise the staff, including task allocation, deadline setting, and performance monitoring.
  • Increase the effectiveness of operational management systems, processes, and best practices.
  • Materials are purchased, inventory is planned, and warehouse efficiency is monitored.
  • Maintain the legal compliance of the organization’s processes.
  • Create strategic and operational goals.
  • Identify, study, and implement business (niche) opportunities.
  • Identify and form strategic alliances.
  • Examine financial data and apply it to increase profitability.
  • Create strategic and operational objectives that are in line with company aims.
  • Perform quality checks and keep track of production KPIs.
  • Look for ways to improve customer service.
  • Prepare partnership and investment proposals.
  • Innovate, initiate, and lead commercial initiatives.
  • Staff recruitment, training, and mentorship.
  • Plan and carry out sales tactics.
  • Make commercial decisions and take reasonable risks.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other employees to ensure that company plans are carried out appropriately.
  • Identify problems, provide recommendations, develop and implement decisions, and interpret results.
  • Streamline systems and procedures to improve quality and productivity.

Experience, Skills, and Attributes

Our ideal colleague will possess the following abilities, characteristics, and experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture, or a related profession is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an operations function is required.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • A strong knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written.
  • The ability to communicate in various languages is advantageous.
  • A significant amount of job experience in a similar role.
  • Work well under pressure, with or without supervision.
  • Willingness to work at strange hours on occasion.
  • A strong interest in agriculture.
