ROLE: Agriculture and Livelihood Coordinator (ALC)

Job Purpose

The Agriculture and Livelihood Coordinator is a member of the management team that is in charge of promoting and implementing the Agriculture and Livelihood program. The role reports to the Head of Programmes and is responsible for project leadership, coordination, and oversight. It entails inspiring and overseeing Project Officers and Field Officers, as well as monitoring ongoing projects to ensure that program plans and project activities are carried out in a timely and effective manner. The job necessitates the development and maintenance of strong working connections with key program stakeholders such as the government, civil society partners, and other relevant collaborators.

Key Responsibilities / Functions

The Agriculture and Livelihood Coordinator’s primary responsibilities and functions are as follows:

  • Project and field officers must be supervised.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee program implementation.
  • Annual Agriculture and Livelihood Program plans and implementation strategies must be prepared and presented.
  • Identify staff capacity needs and recommend capacity-building seminars for program staff.
  • Ensure the timely development and submission of program reports to the Head of Programs.
  • Collaborate with other relevant agricultural and livelihood partners.
  • Assistance with proposal development and resource mobilization for the program
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the BOD/Management in the best interests of the organization.

Required Qualifications or Experience

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, development studies, or project management is required.
  • A master’s degree is advantageous.

Experience

  • Six years of experience in agriculture, livelihood, climate change, food security, or community development are required.
  • At least three years of experience in a leadership or management position is required.
  • Knowledge about the culture of the Upper East Region is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of Social Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) and other participatory methodologies
  • Proven critical thinking abilities as well as significant ability in conceptualizing and designing program interventions and strategies
  • Ability to conduct field trips on a regular basis and connect with stakeholders.
  • Capability in report writing and presentation.
  • Outstanding writing and verbal communication abilities
  • Excellent computer skills. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) advanced competency
  • Outstanding organizational and management abilities
  • A proactive mentality is required, as well as the motivation and aptitude to take initiative.
  • Capability to identify, analyze, and develop solutions to issues

Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including written and spoken fluency in at least one ADDRO operating language
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal relationships
  • Proven ability to work well with others and willingness to take on extra responsibilities as needed
  • Ability to organize, plan, and carry out activities within tight deadlines
  • Analytical, monitoring, evaluation, project management, and report-writing abilities are required.
  • Proactive, results-driven, imaginative, adaptable, and self-motivated.
  • willingness to go throughout the country
  • familiarity with and experience working with Ghanaian NGOs and CSOs
  • Willingness to work in difficult-to-reach regions and make many field visits as needed
  • Outstanding organizing and planning abilities
  • Capability to manage a diverse and changing workload, prioritize appropriately, and deliver on time
  • Strong team player who can quickly establish and maintain effective working connections with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • A proactive approach to problem identification and resolution
  • Computer literate; skilled with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Language Prerequisites

  • Fluency in spoken and written English, as well as at least one of the operative areas’ local languages: Gurune, Kusaal, Talensi, Dagbanli, Dagaare, and so forth.

Travel

The work of the Program Coordinator will include extensive domestic travel.

Age: a minimum of 35 years
