Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarship in Singapore 2024–25

Completely Paid!! International students are welcome to apply for the Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarship in Singapore for 2024–2025. The grant is available for PhD programs in any of the subjects taught at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. The scholarship application period ends on December 31, 2023.

The goal of the extremely difficult and prestigious Nanyang President’s Graduate Scholarship (NPGS) program is to encourage outstanding graduates or students in their final year to pursue full-time Ph.D. studies at NTU in order to start their first steps toward a prestigious research career.

Regarding the university:

Benefits of scholarships:

There is no required service requirement associated with the scholarship.

The scholarship is initially awarded for a year, but it may be renewed for another year provided the recipient makes good progress. The maximum scholarship term for Ph.D. candidates is four years, subject to school decisions and research funds availability.

Monthly Allowance (beginning in August 2023):

  • Singaporean national: S$4,000
  • Permanent Residency in Singapore: S$3,800
  • Foreign Learner: S$3,500
  • Conference Allowance: Up to S$4,000 every fiscal year (from April of the prior year to March of the current year).
  • Book Allowance: A $500 annual award.
  • IT grant: $1,500 one-time grant.
  • Thesis Allowance: A S$600 one-time payment made in the last year of the scholarship renewal.
  • In addition to the monthly stipend, Singaporean citizens get Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions at a rate determined by the current employer’s contribution rate.
  • As part of the Graduate Assistantship Program (GAP), international students must complete teaching or laboratory supervision responsibilities. At the schools’ discretion, Singaporeans and Permanent Residents may also take part in GAP.
  • Priority is granted for subsidized on-campus housing, and the scholarship covers the annual tuition cost.

Acceptable Nationalities:

All nationalities of students, both domestic and foreign, are eligible to apply for this award.

Qualifications for Admission:

  • Applications from candidates of any nationality are accepted, although Singaporean citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.
  • Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree with honors (highest distinction) or a comparable degree.
  • If your undergraduate program is still pending, you need to present official university records attesting to your progress toward earning an Honors (Highest Distinction) degree or its equivalent.

How to Apply:

Applications for August 2024 and January 2025 of the Academic Year 2024–2025 will be accepted from October 1 through December 31, 2023.

When is the NPGS application window period?

ANSWER: The NPGS application portal opens from October to December every year.

What are the eligibility requirements for applicants to qualify for NPGS?

RESPONSE:

  1. There is no restriction as to the nationality of candidates. Preference will be given to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents.
  2. You must have an Honours (Highest Distinction) or equivalent at the Bachelor’s level.
  3. If you have not completed your Bachelor’s degree, you will need to furnish documentation from your university that you are on track to get an Honours (Highest Distinction) degree or its equivalent.

What are the documents required to be uploaded during their application for NPGS?

ANSWER:

  1. Resume, Educational Certificates, Transcripts, Test Scores (GRE, IELTS, etc.), Recommendation Letters etc.

Do I need to find a supervisor before applying for NPGS?

RESPONSE:

It is highly recommended that you seek out a potential supervisor prior to submitting your application. Alternatively, if you have not identified one, the School will appoint a supervisor based on your research interests.

If I am an international student applying for NPGS, is the GRE or IELTS required for my application?

ANSWER:

  1. If the medium of instruction used in your studies is English, you may obtain a letter from your home University to certify the medium of instruction for waiver.
  2. A valid GRE/GMAT score is required for applicants who are not graduates of the *Autonomous Universities in Singapore unless there is a specific requirement stated in the School’s website for the respective graduate research program. Test dates must be within 5 years or less from the date of your application.

Is the NPGS applicable exclusively to PhD programs or does it extend to both PhD and Masters programs?

RESPONSE:

  1. NPGS is only applicable for PhD Programmes.

Will NTU offer physical certificates to certify the awarding of the NPGS to the awardees?

RESPONSE:

  1. Physical certificates will not be issued. Successful candidates will receive an official NPGS award letter after a final interview conducted at the university level.

When will the results for NPGS be released?

AN:

  1. Anticipate that the outcomes for NPGS will likely be made available approximately 3 to 6 weeks following the completion of individual interviews.

What is the monthly stipend amount I will receive?

RESPONSE:

Monthly stipends for Computing and Information Sciences (CIS) NPGS students may receive up to $5,800 while NPGS students from other Schools may receive up to $4,000 monthly stipend. Schools have the flexibility to augment these stipend amounts based on their discretion, pending approval from the University.
