POSITION: Chief Operations Officer (COO)
A Chief Operations Officer (COO) is needed for a premium, fast-growing Ghanaian firm specializing in personal care goods.
Job Description
The ideal applicant will provide leadership for all parts of the company’s operations, growth, business, and marketing departments in order to maximize production, sales, and profitability against critical milestones.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Examine internal operations to identify areas for process improvement.
- Implement business strategies and plans that align with short- and long-term objectives set in collaboration with the CEO.
- Oversee operations, HR, and accounting, and collaborate with the CEO on sales management so that adequate investment money can be planned for near-term growth targets.
- Manage capital investments and expenses aggressively to ensure the company meets investor growth and profitability expectations.
- Use monitoring tools to monitor performance and take remedial action as needed, as well as generate detailed updates and forecasts.
- Negotiate actions such as partnerships or joint ventures with other companies, vendors, and clients.
- Develop and manage direct and indirect sales channels in partnership with the sales and marketing teams to align with the key values of the firm.
- Ensure that all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards are followed.
- Create a strategy for evaluating stores and developing action plans to maintain/improve operational excellence and audit score outcomes.
- Resolve all operational issues as soon as possible to ensure minimal disruption to workflow.
- Carry out any related tasks as directed by the CEO
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Driven to see an African SME scale up to become a respected global brand
- Seven or more years of experience in executive/senior management leadership roles or MBA with 4-5 years experience
- Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
- Solid understanding of data analysis and performance indicators
- Ability to detect problems promptly and predict potential problems Versatile fundraiser with international business experience It is a major benefit if you are fluent in both written and spoken French!
