Maintenance Planner-Process Plant at AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited
AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited’s Obuasi Gold Mine is almost done with the redevelopment phase, which will make it more modern, efficient, and long-term profitability. The underground mining operation is fully automated and is set up to mine an average of 5,000 t of ore per day.
We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated person to join our hardworking team as a Maintenance Planner-Process Plant.
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
To be responsible for planning and making sure that all fixed plants are kept up to the standards set by the original equipment manufacturer so that they can be given to the Mining operations team promptly, “fit for purpose,” for safe and effective use. The person in this role will also make sure that the immediate goal of the planning function is to cut costs, improve reliability, and keep operational improvement initiatives going by putting the AGA Asset Management Plan into action.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- To meet safety goals, make sure that process plant engineering activities are planned in a safe way and that classified plant and electrical safety requirements are met.
- Show safe behaviors that are in line with AGAG’s vision and values.
- Help and make room for safety performance to keep getting better and better.
- Help the Senior Planner for Maintenance plan for all fixed plants.
- Prepare and send in an updated work plan every week that shows real progress and points out weak spots.
- Then, Make sure that all engineering activities have the right cost codes.
- For operational activities, they are in charge of managing the work of the Maintenance Planning team and building their skills and abilities.
- Also, Fill out and keep up to date on the skills matrix.
- Find out where your skills are lacking and take steps to fix them.
- Moreover, Attend important planning meetings once a week or as needed.
- As needed, take part in engineering meetings with the client.
- Keep track of the actions that were agreed upon and make sure they are done.
- Afterwards, Take part in investigations of incidents and give feedback on the agreed-upon corrective actions.
- Make accurate and on-time daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
- Tell the Senior Maintenance Planner about the progress of maintenance work and the status of KPIs, including any possible changes in cost, schedule, or quality.
- Find engineering risks and deal with them by letting stakeholders know about possible problems on time.
- Check the progress and status of maintenance work by looking at it.
- Take part in formal risk reviews every month.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualification
A college degree in a relevant field of mechanical or electrical engineering.
Experience
Experience as a maintenance planner or assistant maintenance planner in mining operations for at least three years.
Technical Competencies
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge base in computerized maintenance management systems.
- Knowing SAP PM Maturity Journey is a plus.
- Good knowledge of how to use MS Project and how to apply wrench time to capacity planning and scheduling.
- Show that you can check and confirm the repair specs for rotable spares.
- Practices for running and maintaining a plant.
- Know how HSE management systems work.
- Ability to work as a part of a team
- Both written and spoken communication skills are very good.
- Audit, following the rules, and leadership.
- Be able to talk to the operational team.

- Strong interpersonal, communication, persuasion, motivation, and organization skills.
- A professional way to keep relationships with contractors, authorities, and clients.
- Able to work well with people from different backgrounds.
- Build and keep good working relationships with a wide range of interested parties.
