Job Opening at an Agro Farming Food Processing Company
We are looking for a full-time Farm Manager with good business sense to join our client’s team. Our client is a reputable local Ghanaian company. The company deals in Agro Farming Food Processing and Packaging
Responsibilities
Advisory and Decision-Making:
Deciding the type of crops to be planted, their quality, quantity, and mode of harvest, preparing detailed plans regarding its planting and harvesting schedules, and collaborating with farm operators for carrying out these activities.
Budgeting/Accounting & Records Management
Planning and preparing the farm finance reports, setting up a budget limit for various farm activities, and maintaining the farm activities in agreement with the budgeted parameters.
Technical Field Service
Supervising farm activities like operating tractors on the field, operating field-based machinery and equipment, spraying, fertilizer application on the field, etc.
Labour Management
Work with HR in hiring full-time/temporary field workers for farm works; tilling the ground, managing harvest, work schedule, wages of the workers accordingly, and any other minor duties required.
Supplies & Service Management
- Advise on buying the farm supplies such as seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, and arranging the repair and maintenance of field equipment, machinery, farm buildings, etc.
- Sourcing and managing service contracts and relationships of clients, material suppliers, and technical service providers.
Commercial planning & Management
- Liaise with the sales and marketing team for the marketing sales of farm products such as crop harvest and planning the production yield on the scheduled time for sending it to the market.
- Operations Regulatory Management Ensure compliance with all regulatory authorities’ requirements and keep up-to-date knowledge on plants, pests, and diseases while taking appropriate measures for curing such menace when in occurrence.
 SHE Management
Monitoring the health and safety measures taken by the farm estate, keeping track of the health and safety of workers and other staff, keeping the environment as diverse as possible, and doing what the law and regulations say must be done to protect the environment,
Target Achievement
- Watching over the whole production process and making sure that the actual product is in line with the goals set for the production.
- Finding and fixing production problems in the field if actual production isn’t in line with production goals.
REQUIREMENTSÂ
- Must have a degree in agronomy and 10 years of hands-on experience in the field.
- It will be helpful if you know how to use irrigation.
- Willingness to move if necessary.
- A strong interest in the agriculture sector and a good understanding of it.
SKILLS
- You must have an entrepreneurial spirit and be ready to take charge.
- Good problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Good at talking to people and getting along with them.
LOCATION: Babator farms are in Ghana’s Savannah Region, in the district of Borle Bam-boi.
