The Shift Manager is a manufacturing leadership position that needs technical and mechanical expertise. They supervise semi-independent teams, monitor performance, assign overtime, and settle disagreements. They manage improvement programs, identify process risks, and mitigate losses in order to eliminate waste. The Shift Manager is skilled in providing effective advice and direction, as well as problem-solving, coaching, and innovation. They also serve as a standard for communication and engagement throughout the manufacturing process, facilitating collaboration with other fundamental operations.

Responsibilities
What will your main responsibilities be?
Individual Business Impact: Achievement Against Flexible Goals
- Effectively controlling the receipt of chemical and packaging materials.
- Floor operations are planned and executed to fulfill flexible volume, quality, output reliability, cost, and safety targets.
- Accurate record-keeping allows for material consumption monitoring, waste minimization, and material variance reduction.
Contribute to Team Success
- Organizing and controlling labor, which includes operators, technicians, and contract workers.
- Supervising weekly and monthly stock counts as well as general Fourth Shift transactions.
- Operating autonomous maintenance activities on the shop floor.
- Supporting the adoption of best practices such as WCM, HACCP, and audit recommendations.
- Ensure that personnel wear adequate personal protective apparel and follow safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Progress on Personal Development
- Identifying skill gaps and planning employee training.
- Actively identifying opportunities for continual operational improvement.
- Helping to identify areas for process development.
Experiences and Qualifications
Minimum/Essential
- Requirements include a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Sciences, as well as familiarity with supply chain planning and SAP.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in FMCG and people management.
- Knowledge of WCM and SAP.
- Candidates must have prior expertise in implementing preventative and autonomous maintenance procedures in a manufacturing setting.
- Candidates must be able to examine industrial and technical processes to identify areas for performance enhancement.
- Ability to demonstrate Strong coaching abilities are required, including inquiring, supporting, and challenging.
Preferred and Desirable
- Experience working with semi-independent or autonomous teams.
- Maintenance Engineering Discipline with HND.
Skills
- Technical. Effective mechanical abilities (see qualifications) are complemented by extensive knowledge of the end-to-end manufacturing processes relevant to their operation, as well as the endorsement of Good Manufacturing Practice.
- Experience with chemical and electromechanical processes, as well as factory controls (e.g., spray drying, soap production, batch and continuous specification).
- Preventive maintenance and condition monitoring (for example, vibration analysis).
- Hazardous area equipment and operation-specific hazards.
- Online/remote diagnostics enable communication with category technical specialists and OEMs.
- Safety. Use proper safety and environmental practices for people, processes, materials, products, and equipment to provide a safe working environment for the entire team. A thorough understanding of job dangers.
- Environment. Reduce waste-related expenses and the impact on health, safety, and the environment by focusing on waste elimination and proper waste and hazardous material management.
- Management: Encourage the formation of a highly effective team by creating a positive tea
- Facilitation and coaching. Capacity to support technical changes using WCM enhancement tools.
- Capable of coaching Technical Operators and semi-independent teams to improve overall team performance. The Shift Managers will help standardize their line/process area.
- Decision-Making. Makes governance decisions for the semi-independent team and decides on outstanding team concerns.
