ROLE: Senior HR Advisor Job

Tullow Oil is a well-known, African-focused independent oil and gas firm. The Group holds approximately 30 exploration and production licences in eight African and South American nations. Our goal is to create a brighter future through ethical oil and gas development.

Tullow Oil is looking for a Senior HR Advisor to work with the Ghana HR team to analyse and recommend revisions to compensation and benefits policies, ensuring consistency with business objectives. The employment is full-time and headquartered in Accra, Ghana, with hybrid working conditions.

Job Purpose

The Senior Human Resources Advisor will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with the Group Reward Team to properly administer Ghana’s local compensation and benefits.
  • To lead and assist the execution of people and organisational plans, with an emphasis on organisational effectiveness, localization, and leadership development.
  • To provide complete operational HR assistance, mentoring, and guidance to business function areas in order to achieve the strategic people objectives outlined in the People Plan, by taking the lead on a variety of essential initiatives.
  • To assist in the development of impactful, results-oriented practices and developmental experiences in talent planning, performance management, talent review, succession planning, culture, inclusion, and diversity, which are required to achieve business objectives and result in the creation of an internal bench of top talent.

Major Functions and Responsibilities

The successful candidate’s major functions and responsibilities are as follows:

Talent management and localization

  • Provide expertise in talent management to provide and constantly enhance our talent processes by creating and program managing the process execution.
  • Support Line Managers in building career and localization strategies based on succession and localization conversations.
  • Incorporate a diversity, inclusion, and engagement lens throughout all talent management processes and systems.
  • Ensure that top personnel has development plans and channels in place to provide meaningful growth opportunities.

Compensation, Benefits, and Mobility

  • Work with HR leadership and business divisions to assess and recommend revisions to compensation and benefits policies, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes relating to total rewards, and make revisions to our programs as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular market benchmarking in collaboration with Group Reward to ensure TGL’s salary and benefits package remains relevant and competitive.

Stakeholder & Organisational Effectiveness

  • Improve organisational effectiveness and performance within the BU.
  • Support the involvement of external/government agencies such as PC, GNPC, etc.
  • Facilitate change management procedures, including communication planning and stakeholder engagement strategies for both internal and external audiences.
  • Project manage new HR projects, programs, and initiatives using detailed project plans, process maps, and following through on implementation.

Knowledge/Qualifications

  • Qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s or master’s degree, as well as professional HR certifications such as CIPD or SHRM.

Skills/Professional Experience

  • Requirements include 5+ years of experience implementing personnel, reward, and organisational effectiveness programs in a fast-paced, engineering-focused technology firm, as well as exceptional project management skills to manage numerous initiatives concurrently.
  • An analytical attitude with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and measure program effectiveness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
