ROLE: Trips & Visits Specialist I 

This entry-level professional specialist exists to provide Compassion visitors with the opportunity to experience Compassion’s work in the field through meetings with sponsored children and students, visits to Compassion-assisted projects, and meetings with Compassion field staff, all of which provide visitors with exposure and learning opportunities that will educate them about Compassion’s response to poverty, influence their cross-cultural perspective, and motivate them towards Compassion’s work.

This specialist contributes to the joint accountability of GME, GP, and GPA for effective tours and visits. This specialist assists the partnership team in coordinating logistics, booking accommodations, arranging transportation, translators, gift purchases, and scheduling activities and child/family home visits, all while ensuring effective alignment with Compassion’s child protection policy and expectations. Trips will be successfully executed and evaluated as a result of shared accountability.

All of this must be done within particular budget constraints. At this level, the incumbent may still be studying and aiding with tours and visits, and she or he normally works under the supervision of a supervisor or a more experienced specialist, or as a team member on larger projects.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps a close relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a continuous witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a gracious, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people both inside and outside of Compassion, and faithfully prays for Compassion’s ministry.
  • Serves as a kid advocate. Recognizes and promotes Christ’s mission to safeguard children. Raises awareness of children’s needs and takes active actions to safeguard children from neglect, abuse, and exploitation. Promotes children’s dignity, respect, positive treatment, and potential in all circumstances. Encourages people to join in assisting youngsters in need. If an episode of child harm occurs, it is reported and adequately supported.
  • Assists marketing specialists in cooperating to provide first-hand experience and exposure to Compassion’s main ministry programs for vision trips, sponsors, and contributors, ultimately increasing involvement and sponsorship of children.
  • Plans tours and visits for vision trips, sponsors, and donors in collaboration with the partnership team and church partners. Provides feedback to Partnership Facilitators and
  • Training teams in order to improve the quality of tours and visits to the project.
  • Assists with the recruitment and training of translators to assist tour groups as they meet with church partners, sponsored children, and other essential stakeholders. Trains and compensates these translators.
  • Uses discretion and independent judgment to protect Compassion’s interests as well as the participants’ lives and property to the greatest extent practicable. Depends on other services to aid with travel security in the area.
  • Assists with the organization of logistics for marketing-related groups, such as reserving hotels, arranging in-country transportation, and purchasing visit gifts.
  • Explains Compassion programs and trip outcomes, working with stakeholders to ensure the quality and effectiveness of field exposure trips.
  • Other professionals and support employees in the tour discipline may benefit from your skills.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is required.
  • N/A of experience Aside from the minimum education level, no experience is required.
  • Licenses and Certifications None *Equivalent education, training, and/or certification may be substituted for the above-mentioned experience and education.
    Office Working Environment – Standard Office Environment

Physical Requirements

  • Up to 8 hours per day of sitting, standing, and/or walking

Requirements for Travel

It is possible that you will be forced to travel up to 50% of your typical schedule.
