Job Title: Senior Cutting Supervisor
Position Overview
In our Cutting department, we have a great chance for a hands-on person with a lot of passion to train local talent and pass on skills. The job will be based in Koforidua, which is two hours outside of Accra in Ghana, West Africa. This person will work closely with the Maagrace and Ethical Apparel Africa Technical teams and report to the Cutting Manager. They will be in charge of the following:
Responsibilities
- Lead the process of cutting at the cutting department
- Check to see what kind of technical skills the cutting team needs, and come up with training for the best cutting standards.
- Make lay plans and make sure the right amount of shading and spreading is done in the right order.
- Make sure the fabric is loose as specified.
- Make sure daily production goals in the cutting room are met.
- Follow all procedures for compliance in the factory, such as the management and enforcement of PPE (use, replacement)
- Make sure that the cutting room is clean.
Qualities and Characteristics
- English language skills
- Hands-on experience in the Cutting department for a variety of products and mastery of band knife machine, spreading machine, etc. (at least 10–15 years of experience in a garment factory).
- Proven experience creating and leading training, as well as a passion for passing on skills Deep knowledge of customer markets and experience working with American and/or European brands
- Proven experience in assessing factories’ risks and needs and making action plans to bring factories to the top
- Excellent leadership and training skills, as well as the ability to coach teams and help people grow.
- Communication and presentation skills that work well across cultures
- Have worked or lived in Africa before?
- Show that the following things are true: proactive, self-aware, resilient, adaptable, persistent, and resourceful; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines; good at both strengthening relationships and solving problems; poised, active listener; fun to work with; full of integrity; able to do multiple things at once and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
