The Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Emmanuel Congregation, Dansoman, is looking for highly motivated and qualified people to fill the position of Headmaster/Headmistress of Emmanuel Presbyterian Preparatory/JHS School.

Job Objectives

1. Make sure that students get a good education (INPUT: that will lead to the best academic performance in the region) in a safe and healthy environment that is based on Christian values. In order to do this, the person on the job will be expected to enforce school rules and keep an eye on how the school runs on a daily basis. (Input: He or she must be a committed Christian.
2. Make sure that the approved curriculum, school’s rules, plans, and goals which is based on GES and PRESBYTERIAN Standards for education set by Presbyterians.
3. Get the necessary resources, such as money, to make sure the plan is carried out.
4. Make sure that students and staff are following the rules, and set a good example for teachers and staff by doing things well in the classroom. 5. Meet the standards and make the decisions that the School tells them to.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To lead and manage the whole school, from Pre-K to Junior High (INPUT: SCHOOL), so that all students make good progress and achieve to the top of their game
• To have good structures for running the school at every level; JHS, Lower Primary, Upper Primary, and Pre-school.
• Personally or through assistants make sure that teachers and students are disciplined and on time.
• To make sure that teachers plan their work for the year and divide it into termly plans.
• Set goals for each term to make teaching plans complete and make sure regular reviews are done to reach goals To keep track of learners’ progress and achievement through regular formal and informal tests to make sure everyone is on track to reach their goals.
• Participate in class work by being there sometimes, so you can judge the teachers’ methods, delivery, and results and report on them.
• At the end of the year, it should reflect well on the teacher.
• Send in annual, confidential reports on teachers’ overall performance, including how on-time they are, how they act in class, how well they teach, whether the class is getting better or worse, and whether the goals set for the term have been met.
• To work together with the Board to help shape the school’s overall strategic direction.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in teaching or a field related to it
• Having a master’s degree in education or a related field will be a plus.
• Must be a teacher with at least the rank of Principal Superintendent and at least 10 years of professional experience in a variety of roles.
• At least five years’ experience as the head teacher of a private elementary school
• Training in Montessori (INPUT: AND CAMBRIDGE) will be an added bonus.

REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES.

Excellent skills in writing reports

• Good communication, people, and public speaking skills Show that they can work well with students, parents, and staff to get things done.
• Good knowledge of the best practices and trends in education as set by GES standards
• Ability to use data to drive decision-making
• Applicants must know how to use computers and be good at Microsoft Office Suite.
