We are looking for a talented and creative Communications Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about telling great stories, skilled at using multiple communication platforms, and dedicated to furthering our organization’s goal through strategic communication initiatives. The chosen individual will report to the Communications Manager.

Responsibilities

• Create compelling and successful communication and marketing products for both social and conventional media channels.
• Oversee GSA’s social media presence across many platforms, including community interaction and analytics tracking.
• Write newsletters, blogs, and articles with accurate and relevant material
• Create press releases and press kits to inform journalists and media professionals about GSA operations.
• Build relationships with media outlets, influencers, and stakeholders to increase coverage and partnerships.
• Create attractive visuals and short videos.
• Coordinate internal communication to ensure consistency and alignment across departments.
• Evaluate campaign and initiative effectiveness using communication metrics.
• Help prepare for GSA conferences and organize activities, workshops, webinars, and meetings.
• Collaborate with project leaders to create communication materials that showcase project progress, results, and achievements.
• Create engaging project fact sheets and ‘one-pagers’.
• Assist the graphic designer with publication and production, including proofreading and content coordination.
• Participate in field visits and activities to gather written, audio, and video content for reporting purposes.
• Organize and secure GSA’s communication materials, including films, images, reports, and consent forms
• Oversee daily website administration, including content creation, uploading, and changes.
• Analyse digital channels (e.g., social media, website, press) and make recommendations to fulfill project goals.
• Adhere to GSA policies and quality management best practices.
• fulfill any additional tasks assigned by the Communications Manager or on your own that are in line with the general standards and scope of work for GSA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, journalism, or a similar discipline.
• Proven experience in communications, preferably in a non-profit, corporate, or agency setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on detail and accuracy.
• Expertise in copywriting, editing, photography, interviewing, and reporting, with the ability to customize messages for various audiences and media.
• Experience with social media management tools, content management systems, and analytics platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines, stakeholder needs, and production schedules with varied teams across regions.
• Excellent organizational, multitasking, interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities.
• Must be proficient in MS Office and Google Docs, with preference for graphic design and photo/video experience.
• Creative thinker with a strategic attitude and enthusiasm for storytelling.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and successful collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Fluency in both English and French is preferred, including speaking and writing.
