German Embassy in Accra Invites Job Applivations
The German Embassy in Accra is looking for a foreign language assistant (m/f) for the legal and consular section (full-time) starting from November 2023.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The person in this job will help students improve their ability to talk in the target language and will also help students individually or in small groups if they need it. The person in this job will try to make the sessions as much about the culture of the countries where the target language is spoken as possible. You may also be asked to help with administrative tasks every now and then.
This is a part-time job, and the expected hours will be spread out over two weeks. There needs to be some flexibility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To help students improve their communication skills, especially their speaking skills, and to give them more confidence when speaking the foreign language;
- To help students learn about a different culture and society
- To teach language in a cultural context by making a connection with countries where the target language is spoken
- To make sure that teaching materials are up-to-date, real, and relevant so that they engage and challenge students
- To give individual pupil support;
- To learn about the IGCSE and Level Specifications so that they can help students prepare for tests well;
- To help students in grade 13 with their own research projects;
- To talk with subject teachers on a regular basis to make sure that what is covered is right for each course and age group;
- To help build a virtual environment for learning a foreign language; to help with cultural events at the school;
- Help the Modern Foreign Languages Department with administrative tasks from time to time;
- To know and follow policies and procedures about protecting children, health, safety and security, and privacy.
Requirement
Please be aware that you need to be very good at speaking German.
