Melcom Ghana invites applications from the general public for the following role: Furniture fixers

Responsibilities

• Mix the items for the finish to get the colors or shades you want.
• Finishing ingredients, like paint, oil, stain, or wax, are brushed, sprayed, or rubbed by hand into the wood grain, and then lacquer or other sealers are put on top.
• To get surfaces ready for finishing, you can use sandpaper, pumice stones, steel wool, chisels, sanders, or grinders to smooth, shape, and touch them up.
• Examine the furniture to see how bad the damage or wear is and to figure out the best way to fix or restore it.
• You can use electrostatic painting or a spray gun or other painting tools to paint metal objects.
• Use finishes to protect or decorate workpieces or goods.
• Make suggestions for woods, colors, finishes, and styles of furniture based on your knowledge of wood goods, fashion, and styles.
• Choose the right finishing materials, such as paint, stain, lacquer, shellac, or varnish, based on the wood’s toughness and the type of surface.
• Use hand tools, stripping tools, sandpaper, steel wool, abrasives, acids, or dip baths to get rid of old finishes and broken or worn-down parts.

Qualification and Experience Required

• Qualification: SHS/Diploma
• Experience: 2yrs
