ROLE: Enterprise Manager
About this role
In addition to constructing a substantial new library center (‘Spot’) in Elmina, we are looking for an Enterprise Manager to oversee a business development strategy to create cash for EduSpots’ activities by utilising the downstairs of Elmina Spot. This might involve selling products such as our publications, renting out the space, establishing a visitors’ center and EduSpots’ gallery, and other ideas led by the Enterprise Manager.
The local team will administer the Spot and its educational activities, in keeping with the community-led aspect of the EduSpots model, but we anticipate that the Enterprise Manager will provide assistance and advice to the local team, forming a close relationship with them.
We are searching for a self-starter with great interpersonal skills and exceptional task management abilities for this position. They will be well-versed in operations, sales, marketing, community engagement, and business development. You will be based in Elmina and will be able to engage with local businesses and individuals to generate money while supporting EduSpots’ key vision of creating a world in which communities unite to build the futures they desire. The applicant will also play an important position on the EduSpots staff, overseeing the central and western regions of Spots.
Principal roles and duties
- Oversee visitors to the Elmina site and introduce them to the activities of EduSpots.
- Develop and implement a feasible business plan for Elmina Enterprise Centre-related firms, in collaboration with the local community.
- Build strong partnerships through engaging local businesses, tourist destinations, and hotels in the Elmina area and beyond in EduSpots activity, and developing revenue sources through visitor support.
- Working closely with the local team, lead the development and implementation of a promotional and marketing strategy for entrepreneurial activities in Elmina such as space hire, the building of an EduSpots visitor center, sales of local craft, and a broader events strategy.
- Help in the sale of EduSpots resources such as books and educational kits.
- Provide strong operational assistance for any EduSpots training sessions or conferences held at Elmina Spot, including lodging and meals.
- Oversee additional construction activity at Elmina Spot, reporting to the Head of Operations on a regular basis.
- Assisting the community volunteer team in overseeing events at the Spot.
- Through our Spot Operations leadership program, I assist staff and volunteers in designing monthly challenges and ensuring their efficient execution throughout their assigned Spots.
- Assisting in the recruitment and induction of new Spots to their region.
- Completing Spot bi-annual visits, interacting with volunteers and other stakeholders, and reporting back to management and the team.
- Working with the Head of Operations to assist volunteers in the application, receipt, and reporting of Spot development funds.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of systems, tools, and processes that improve local Spot operations and the overall development of our organization.
- Creating Stories for new communities or Spots that join the network, as well as assisting with the monitoring and assessment of Spot activities and operations, which may include assistance with the development and testing of an EduSpots app.
- Planning and assisting in the organization of regional and national volunteer training activities.
- Observing, assessing, and analyzing processes in EduSpots and across Spots to find inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement, and reporting back to the team on difficulties and solutions.
- Supporting the implementation of our safeguarding plan, ensuring that all Spots adhere to the strategy and wider policy, and reporting any safeguarding concerns to the safeguarding leaders.
Required Qualifications or Experience
- A bachelor’s degree
- At least 5 years of project or event management or business development expertise is required.
- Strong skills in sales, marketing, communications, and community involvement.
- Basic financial abilities, such as creating company strategies, basic accounting, and budgeting.
- Multitasking and prioritization skills
- Strong IT expertise and basic design abilities are required, as well as a willingness and capacity to learn.
- Personal Characteristics and Skills
- A sincere dedication to educational justice and community-driven transformation.
- Strong operational abilities, as well as good organizational and time management abilities.
- Proactive and capable of working in an impact-driven atmosphere to maintain a high degree of performance with minimal supervision.
