Geopolitics Director is a new Policy and Politics position.

It leads a team that advises political leaders globally and positions the Institute as a global thought leader. Trade, security, alliances, and collaboration are global themes to consider. It will also demand a detailed analysis of regional issues including Ukraine, China, and the Middle East.

The post will help the Advisory division expand TBI’s government offer. Heads of Government, Opposition Leaders, and their staff, and the policy ecosystem should trust TBI for geopolitical insight and policy thought leadership. The Executive Director, Policy works closely with the Institute’s Executive Chairman, CEO, senior worldwide Advisory colleagues, Strategy and Partnerships, and Internal Operations departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on geopolitical trends and policy issues.
  • Develop policy analysis and recommendations for governments and policymakers.
  • Oversee high-quality published work and private briefing material for policy professionals, government counterparts, partners, or broader political audiences.
  • Advise TBI executives and external clients.
  • Advocate for the Institute’s position in external meetings and conferences or through the media, building our profile in the field Provide collaboration and geopolitical expertise to other policy projects
  • Support a Future of Britain stream, contribute to the policy plan, and help present and advocate it.
  • Support Advisory and Strategy and Partnerships colleagues in international geopolitics forums and regional or national policy concerns.
  • Assist senior Institute leaders with geopolitical engagements.
  • Manage the team’s budget and hold management accountable for spending within budget.
  • Lead, coach, and manage a TBI-wide integrated team.
  • Maintain a high-performing culture and emphasize learning, development, and employee well-being.
  • Manage practice-wide recruitment.
  • Build solid, collaborative TBI partnerships and promote TBI’s progressive principles.

Person Specification

  • A long history of geopolitical innovation in government, business, academia, or policy.
  • A profound understanding of geopolitics, encompassing commerce, security, and international relations, and the largest regional challenges that motivate political leaders
  • A thorough understanding of foreign politics and how presidents use power abroad.
  • A vast global network of industry, academic, and policymaking contacts
  • Working with politicians
  • Long history of geopolitical advocacy, including broadcast media.
  • Outstanding ability to explain complex challenges to a variety of audiences, from executive office to the technical level Track record of leading high-performing teams and proven ability to establish, inspire, and retain teams to achieve extraordinary objectives
  • Successful teamwork in a large and diverse organization
  • Strategic, enterprising, and question the current quo to plan and achieve difficult goals

The following attributes are advantageous:

  • Have received national or worldwide recognition for their work, such as citations, media attention, awards, or honors.
  • Foreign policy expertise or appropriate academic credentials
  • Multinational work experience
