Crane and Rigging Supervisor at Perseus Mining Limited

Perseus Mining Limited is a gold miner and explorer that is listed in both Australia and Toronto. Its main focus is on the West African region. The world-class Edikan gold project in the Western Region of Ghana has been turned on by Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited (PMGL). The Edikan processing facility was designed to handle 5.5Mtpa, but with a few plant upgrades in 2016, it was able to handle up to 7.2Mtpa. The plant can make between 180,000 and 220,000 ounces of gold per year.

Purpose of Role:

The right person will make sure that all applicable safety, standards, or regulatory requirements are met when operating all Edikan rigging and lifting equipment. They will also supervise and train the team members (crane and rigging crew) as part of their commitment to the idea of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and organize all lifting work at the Edikan Site;
• Do an inspection and tagging of lifting gear;
• Check all of the systems for lifting permits to work;
• Do inspections and make any suggestions for improvement that are needed;
• Lock out equipment properly for maintenance;
• Make sure lifting is done according to the rules.
• Increase productivity by planning and working together;
• Cut down on maintenance costs by making sure standard operating procedures are followed;
• Keep an eye on how crane operators and riggers do their jobs every day;
• Give all subordinates ongoing training on the job as part of a plan to spread the idea of “continuous improvement through safe efficiency”;
• Any other tasks that are related and are needed or expected.

Skills and qualifications:

• Minimum SSCE/N.V.T.I or its equivalent;
• At least five years of work experience;
• Must have a Ghana Mineral License operating certificate;
• Must know how to use a computer and be able to use Microsoft Office and write reports;
• Be able to speak and write clearly;
• Be able to help the maintenance crew figure out what’s wrong;
• Must have a driving license from Ghana E;
• Must be able to run a crane with a capacity of at least 250T;
• Must be able to manage people well; and
• Must be a rigging supervisor with a proven certificate and a lot of experience.
