Change for Green Ghana (GCG) is a registered environmental non-governmental organization whose main goal is to fight climate change by reducing human activities that cause it. The organization’s goal is to come up with community-based solutions to climate change that are friendly and helpful to community members while protecting and preserving natural resources, ecosystems, and the environment as a whole.

As an organization that cares about the environment, we are committed to working with communities and starting programs that help both the community and the environment. These include putting in place practical conservation measures to help with the long-term management of important ecological habitats and building up the ability of communities to be strong and adapt to climate change and other environmental threats.

Project Summary

Change for the Green The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Audemars Watkins Foundation (AWF) have given Ghana and Ranas Ltd., a Swiss company that specializes in changing people’s behavior, part of the money they need to carry out a scientific research project called “Addressing Behavioral Barriers Associated with Tree Planting (ABBAT)”. The goal of the initiative is to look into the social and cultural barriers to planting trees and protecting forests in the Mole Landscape and come up with good ways to deal with them. The project will be carried out in three districts: West Gonja, Sawla/Tuna/Kalba, and Wa East.

Job Description

Green for Change Ghana (GCG) is looking for qualified and experienced candidates to fill in the following positions.

1. Finance and Admin Officer

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financial management and at least two years of experience in accounting.
  • Domestic workers need to know about the local tax and withholding laws.
  • A solid understanding of how finances and accounting work
  • Knowledge of how to use accounting software like QuickBooks, etc.
  • Skills that go beyond MS Excel
  • Knowledge of financial and tax laws. Good analytical and math skills.
  • Strong morals and the ability to handle secret information.

2. Project Field Officers

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in development studies, social sciences, or managing natural resources
  • 2-3 years of work in the community, preferably in a field related to the project.
  • Excellent skills in keeping an eye on how program activities are carried out.
  • Shown that they can put training programs in place, especially for smallholder farmers.
  • Fluency in both speaking and writing English, as well as at least one local language (Gonja, Dagaare, or Vagla)
  • Show that you can get along with other people and work well as a team.
  • Strong skills with Excel and other important Microsoft Office programs.
  • Able to work with little direction.
