Job Title: Resource Geologist

About the company

Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited (CNML) is a fully owned subsidiary of Shandong Gold Mining Co. Ltd., which is listed on both the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKSE). CNML is working to improve its main asset, which is in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The company’s long-term goal is to build a world-leading, highly valuable, and responsible gold mining business of world-class level.

Job Purpose

The Resource Geologist will help the MRM department with its Mineral Resource and Grade control estimates and modeling. The person in charge will also help handle the Geology database and QAQC in both the exploration chain and the mining chain.

The most important responsibilities and duties

• Do all the modeling work and data analysis needed for Resource and Grade Control. This includes, but is not limited to, Lithology and structural models, material type models (oxide, transitional, and sulphide), geological modeling, and Au and S recovery models.
• Provide daily updates of geology database files (Diamond, RC, and GC) for all CNML Operations through scheduled tasks, batch scripting, and giving reports/queries and database development improvements as needed in gaps analysis for data reliability.
• Provide suggestions for changes or updates to the Resource modeling methods that will improve quality and efficiency and make sure that any changes are always made and written down.
• Make sure that mineral resource and mineral reserve forecasts and public reporting are in line with the rules. (JORC 2012, NI 43-101, SAMREC, etc)
• Provide critical structural models for geotechnical support.
• Help evaluate the Mine-Mill settlement cycle and report on any differences between the Resource Control Model and the Grade Control Model.
• Works closely with the Exploration, Mining Geologist, Mine planning, and other engineers to make sure that the Resource, Mining planning, and the most valuable extraction and recovery are done as quickly and effectively as possible.
• Does any other connected tasks that the Supervisor gives based on the needs of the Mine.

Required Skills or Experience

Educational and Experience

• Degree from a university in geology, geological science, earth science, or a related field.
• At least five years of work experience in a similar position.
• Exploration knowledge as well as a track record of running gold mines.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong software and modeling skills in Leapfrog and Datamine for geology (this is a must-have skill).
• Safety Management Systems (SMS) inside and out.
• Good understanding of how to control risks and stop losses.
• Strong skills in presenting, organizing, and talking to people.
• Ghanaian driver’s license that is still valid and driving skills.
• Strong knowledge of how to use geostatistics and variography to estimate natural resources.
• standards for reporting to the outside world (JORC 2012, NI43-101, SAMREC).
• Experience and exposure to different geological sites and mineralization styles, with the green stone belt being the main focus.
• Very good computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office and managing databases.
• If you know how to use Micomine, MapInfo, or MPR, that will be a plus.
• Shows great conceptual skills and is able to come up with creative and useful solutions.
• Strong critical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to write technical reports and give technical reports.
• AUSIMM/AIG/SAIMM/WAIMM member or a member of a similar business group.
